messing with dred-files - please help if you can

I'm facing a little problem. I have tried many times to make Steve Nash-like hair using dred.fsh files. I have tried doin' it with nfstool, copying the correct info from the dred from the xplrcmn.viv.
But every time I try the hair appears as normal braids like Iverson's. How can I make the hair I want, you probably know what I mean?
