Rebounding

Postby Mark. on Thu Aug 07, 2003 5:58 pm

I'm having real trouble rebounding, its not that it causes me to lose games jst my players stats are crap e.g my center and power foward averaging 5 boards a game. So i was jst wondering if there is a trick to it, do you change to the player to rebound?? and what settings do you have on....?

Make sure you time your jump well. If you jump too early, you will either land before you can grab the ball or you'll goaltend the shot. Try to box out opponents on the defensive boards. You'll nearly always get the offensive rebound if you anticipate which way the ball will bounce after the missed shot, and get into a good position to grab the board.

well...if you don't have a roster patch

there just aren't that many rebounds to get since every team shoots like 80%...playing franchise mode and having your big people's ratings go down cause of this is frustrating as hell

but then with a roster patch you can't really play a franchise

so.....

Using untweaked rosters I can get 13 or 14 rebounds with at least one of my players. It's important that you take matters into your own hands - don't leave it up to your CPU teammates.

today i used untweaked rosters and i got 29 rebounds with Mutombo ( i traded him to sixers) ( i used 10 minute quarters and all-star) my record is 32 or 33 rebounds with Drew Gooden

I've grabbed 20+ boards with KG before. I think he's averaging about 13 or 14 for the season.

I used to be a good rebounder IRL, and most of my favorite players are rebounders. As a result I've never had most of the problems others have with rebounding in Live games, timing and using the right players will get the job done.

the most importand thing in rebounding is the players verticle!
thats y KG can get a tonne of them!
if u want an offencive rebound then u have to shoot and immidiatly switch players and jump!
same with defencive rebound, as soon as the shoot is realsed swich players and jump,

there is a trick to getting easy defencive rebounds and gong for a fast break
as soon as the player shoots(mostly works on 3pts shoot) press intential foul and ur players will push all the other players away and u get the easy rebound and a fast break!

On 7 minute quarters I'm averaging 9 with Tim Thomas. And 6 with Tyson Chandler, and 4 with Eddy Curry off the bench.

hmm with no updated rosters I used to play franchise mode 7 minute quarters

I had eddie curry and kelvin cato on my team and I couldn't get either of them to average 7 or more boards per season

andrew you play 12 minutes quarters...so yeah

I'm a great rebounder (get the missed freethrow 75% of the time), but with default rosters you'll end up getting more offensive boards than defensive most of the time

That does make a difference, but it's pretty easy to get 10 rebounds by the half with KG. 28 minutes should be enough to get realistic rebounding numbers.

Also consider that players have to miss shots for you to be able to get rebounds. If your opponents are shooting 80% (and that's quite possible on Superstar), you're not going to get a lot of opportunities for defensive rebounds.

that's what I was saying...with no roster patches the field goal percentages are around 65-80% for teams...if it drops below that it's usually cause you're blocking the crap out of the other team cause the pg keeps jacking up 3's...and you don't get rebounds for getting to the loose ball on a block

usually in franchise mode, your pg will lead your team in blocks...if not be in the top 2...this is with no roster patch of course.

the assist recording method is all messed up as well...you can get an assist if you penetrate and dish, then the player with ball can ball fake twice, fake like he's going to one side, go to the other, drive to the hole and dunk and you'll get the assists...but other times you won't

You can seriously rack up assists in post play...just give it to the big men and no matter how many moves you make you'll still get the assists...but sometimes you won't

you get the drift

and this still holds true...if you're a good rebounder

I'm averaging 10rpg with Kwame. I've had a few games where I've had him get 20+ rebounds, and I only play 6 minute quarters, and I've never changed the ratings.

kwame is a rebounding and shot blocking beast in that game

well anybody that's got long arms and can jump is

but if you're getting lots of 20 board games with him in 6 minutes that must mean you don't have that many other good rebounders in your team

or that you should probably play in a higher difficulty

if I'm wrong then I stand corrected
