Can someone please explain how to globally edit the DBF?

Postby Showtime32 on Wed Nov 20, 2002 9:24 am

I must be retarded. I've got DBF Viewer Pro 4.0, MS Excell XP, and MS Access XP, but I can't figure out how the hell to edit the DBF file.

Could someone could please explain how to use the DBF viewer? It seems a lot easier than pasting back and forth from access to excell and back.

Thanks in advance.

How many times do we have to ask, "Do you know how to search the forums?"

I've read every single post on all the forums: General Issues, Franchise Isseuse, Patch Issues, etc. That's how I found out about using DBF Viewer Pro and Excell and Access.

The instructions given in the threads are not working for me

If you're not willing to help me out, please don't respond. I'd like to contribute to the community with a roster patch.....

Is there anyone out there who is willing to explain it to me instead of being an asshole? Thanks! :D

dbfviewer pro is a standalone.. u don't use it with excel or access. Until a toolkit comes out for 2003, use dbfviewer pro. Instructions on its usage were already posted:

Thanks, but I read that post already and the instructions in that post are not working. I must be retarded.

For example, when I go to 'update multiple records' and try to reduce all the 3pt shooting by -5 in the expression box, it changes all the 3pt shooting to a value of '-5' instead of reducing the value by -5.

What am I doing wrong? What am I supposed to be putting in the expression box? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

when u check a field, the expression box becomes activated, and the text within will be the name of the field (i.e. FGPBASE). Now if you wanted to subtract 5 from every player, simply type in "-5" after the field (i.e. FGPBASE-5). This becomes a very powerful feature, because you can multiply a field by a % (i.e. FGPBASE*.85). This way, you won't have to worry about ratings being negative. Which ever way you do it, do NOT erase the field name that comes up in the expression!

You da man squidy37! Deleting the name in the field was exactly what I was doing. D'oh!

Thanks a lot man. I'll let you have first grabs at my new roster :)
