My tweaked players.dbf is online

Postby Felipe on Tue Nov 19, 2002 10:22 pm

Hi men, I uploaded my tweaked players.dbf
Used freeware CDBF editor (I don't remember where I downloaded it, make a google search and good luck). It's a DOS based program.

I usually play simulation, 8-min qtr, CPU shot, foul slider both to max, superstar level. I couldn't post my stats so far since I play at home and now I'm at work, but I will. Anyway, latest games I played had very realistic stats.

The file is here:
http://perso.wanadoo.es/sbasket/tweaked.zip

These are the tweaks:
FG -20
Adonal Foyle dropped to negative and I corrected him manually.
3PT *0.88
I lowered 2% from the previous one.
FT *0.95
Even free throws are a bit overrated in the original roster (I think)
DUNK *0.6
Maybe this can be raised a bit, players miss some (not many) dunks.
STEAL *0.2
BLOCK *0.2
Steal and blocks are near ok now (at least for me).
DEF.REB -15
Players get a chance to get the offensive board now.
BALL +10
In +1 consecutive steps to avoid "three digit errors" in database fields, which ignore the change. Better passes now.
OFFAW *0.8
CPU takes less crazy shots, but still gun and run too often.
DEFAW (/2)+49
This set all players between 80-99 for higher difficulty.
JUMP *0.8
Less blocks by lowering the jump.
INSIDE *0.75
It's a bit more difficult to score in the paint.
STRENGHT (-9)*1.1
Big players see raised his strenght, weaker don't. I think this rating may help to fix the PF/C high FG%
SPEED & QUICK: (OVERALL*0.2)+(SPEED or QUICK*0.1)+(100-((HEIGHT+WEIGHT)/4.5)
This complex formula makes taller+fattiest player slower. As you see, a 20% of the overall rating is added, giving a boost to superstar players.
PRIMACY (-18)+(OVERALL*0.2)
Another boost for superstar players.

Hope you enjoy.

Regards,
Felipe

Why Flame?

Postby Stevish on Wed Nov 20, 2002 1:08 am

I don't think that anybody will flame you, cuz this seems to be one of the most thought formula that I've seen on the forum. Really aniticipated to see how your stats roll out. Keep posting man.

Forgot to mention I got rip of the overall tweak. Seems like Live 2003 recalculate it at the start of every game and shows the recalculated overall when in stats center in game menus.

Please try it and put your comments here. I think we can turn Live2003 into a great game if we work on tweaking. This game is better than Live2000, IMHO.

I have just tried them, 32 minutes, all-star, normal fouls, perhaps I should raise them. The game was really good, I (Lakers) dominated most of the first half, then the nets went by 12 in the 3rd, but Kobe's 16 points in the final quarter gave the shaq-less lakers the victory,

Here are the stats of the game:

Entire Game New Jersey LA Lakers

Points 78 79
Bench Scoring 17 11
Field Goals 32/77 32/57
Field Goal % .416 .561
3 Point FG 7/21 6/16
3 Point % .333 .375
Free Throws 7/11 9/18
Free Throw % .636 .500
Rebounds 29 36
Off. Rebounds 7 4
Def. Rebounds 22 32
Blocks 5 8
Steals 13 9
Assists 12 16
Turnovers 14 23
Fouls 14 8

Besides, outside shooting was a little hard, but certainl not impossible, wide shots usually go in. Bryant finished with 40 points, so that's quire real.

Great work, felipe.

If you go into the game and save a roster under any name. You can extract the file right into your "saves" file folder titled 001, 002, etc. That way you don't have to mess with your original data base.

I am downloading now. The stats look nice. But I have always had a hard time getting Offensive rebounds. This this patch help that in general, or is there some strategy I have to do? Thanks to all who reply.

I made some corrections to my .dbf:

3PT raised by 2% from the previous version. It was too hard to score from downtown. Now max rating is 90 (Ray Allen).

SPEED/QUICKNESS Lowered by 15, as gameplay was too fast in superstar level. Did you try CPU-controlled Iverson? He run like hell, no way to stop him. Now max ratings are 75 in speed and quickness.

File has been uploaded to http://perso.wanadoo.es/sbasket/tweaked.zip

We are closer from the simulation :P

bug in this tweak??

Postby hihihi316 on Thu Nov 21, 2002 7:46 pm

i tried your tweaked roster and it's very good in terms of gameplay! Thank you!
i don't know it's just my game but after I installed your roster, Atlanta Hawks seems kinda messed up... if you go to roster management menu, there is only one player(Theo Ratliff) on Atlanta, and if you go to player stat menu.. you can see that there are 3 theo ratliff with different ratings!!
I wonder i am the only one having this problem...if not... please do something about it!
Thanks!

A new tweaked file is online:
http://perso.wanadoo.es/sbasket/tweaked.zip

This time I used DoubleA's rosters updated on Nov 19.

Tweaks:
FG -20
3PT *0.9
FT *0.95
DUNK *0.6
STEAL *0.2
BLOCK *0.2
DEF.REB -15
OFFAW *0.8
DEFAW (/2)+49
BALL (*0.8)+20
JUMP *0.8
INSIDE *0.75
STRENGHT (-9)*1.1
SPEED / QUICK:(SPEED or QUICK*0.1)+(100-((HEIGHT+WEIGHT)/4.5))-7
PRIMACY *0.8
OVERALL -15 (I'm not sure when game recalculates it, if so).

I didn't change Ballhandling, seems like it break down the file.

Felipe

Hey Felipe!!!
Your rosters are the best IMO, you should just lower FG just a bit. They still score too much from the field. I'll try now this new one, I hope it's good.

Felipe, your the man! Keep up the good work. I just played a game between Dallas and Golden State. The fg% was very realistic. The three point % was 32 % for Dallas and 28 % for Denver. Maybe a bit low but still a darn good job.

Perfect!

Postby hihihi316 on Fri Nov 22, 2002 4:05 pm

I've just played one game with your most recent tweak and it was great~!
near perfection~! speed was just fine! fast for fast guys and slow for slow guys!
here's my stat 8min starter arcade user shot control

Entire Game Orlando Philadelphia

Points 97 94
Bench Scoring 18 12
Field Goals 43/75 43/91
Field Goal % .573 .473
3 Point FG 7/17 2/17
3 Point % .412 .118
Free Throws 4/8 6/6
Free Throw % .500 1.000
Rebounds 29 35
Off. Rebounds 3 10
Def. Rebounds 26 25
Blocks 10 6
Steals 5 7
Assists 19 25
Turnovers 15 11
Fouls 6 8

by the way, i was just checking players' rating and noticed that zhizhi wang's 3pt rating was pretty high...really high for center...80 something...i don't know him very much but is he that good? Also, AI wasn't the fastest guy in the game!! but isn't he in real life???
anyway great job!!! keep up the good work~!

Postby hihihi316 on Fri Nov 22, 2002 4:15 pm

just one thing ^^;;;
I think for the next tweak it would be even better if you lower FG a little bit and a also few more fouls(so there could be more free throws)...but still it's good! thanks!

wang has good 3 pt

Postby Krower on Fri Nov 22, 2002 5:44 pm

Yes wang is a center with high 3 pt. he played for Dallas last year and was a great shooter for a center from the outside, so don't be suprised to see his rating higher than usuall for a center from range.

crossovers and spinmove are a problem..

Postby jhowlett on Fri Nov 22, 2002 5:56 pm

According to your request, I'll lower FG a bit more. A -5 lowering should be fine. Maybe another Inside -5 could help too. I'll test it all.

The other tweaks seems good, I played superstar 8-min simulation ORL (me) vs NO and they won 106-99 in overtime with pretty good realistic stats (exception of the CPU offensive rebounds, they only grabbed 5 while I got 15! - I think lowering dramatically DefRebound rating won't help). Mike Miller forced the OT with his 3rd trey to lead a 0-8 comeback in the last minute for the Magic! (weird... as usual in Live series :x )

jhowlett: As speed and quickness is lowered for a better game speed, spin moves are ridiculously slow, but there is no way to fix this, I think.

hihihi36: Amount of fouls are determined by the slider bar which you set whatever you want. I recommend to set defensive fouls to the max and offensive to 75% of the slider, so offensive fouls on the CPU are called less often if you use take charge button (what is a great defensive option!)

Thanks for all your comments!

Felipe

File has been updated.
http://perso.wanadoo.es/sbasket/tweaked.zip
(now includes a full savegame set)

What's new from the previous file:
-PRIMACY adjusted by (-12+(OVERALLRTG*0.12)). This affect CPU attacks, so now it should be more patient. Mid-ratings PGs should fit worse stats, avoiding a bit the PG-dominance (it's a bug of the game and probably will never be fixed at all).
-INSIDE scoring lowered by 10. Now average INSIDE rating is similar to the average FG rating. All players should score less within the paint, and probably globally as this rating refers not only in the zone shots, but 2-3 meters away too.

Tweaks made:
FG -20
3PT *0.90
FT *0.95
DUNK *0.6
STEAL *0.2
BLOCK *0.2
DEF.REB -15
OFFAW *0.8
DEFAW (/2)+49
BALL (*0.8)+20
JUMP *0.8
INSIDE (*0.75)-10
STRENGHT (-9)*1.1
SPEED / QUICK:(SPEED or QUICK*0.1)+(100-((HEIGHT+WEIGHT)/4.5))-7
PRIMACY (*0.8)-12+(OVERALLRTG*0.12)
OVERALL -15
