Tony hasn't made any really special patches...he's just really consistant with making perfect little patches. (or maybe i am wrong..some patches are coming to mind now..anyway..) Bchogan would win in a flash...That's why David made a rule that all patches submitted have to brand new.

Here's an idea i posted on .org. What do you guys think...

ausar72 on .org wrote:Don't know the feasibility of this, but check out this idea:

You get 32 (or 64) of the best patchers out there and seed them like the NCAA tournament #1 seed etc... and create a single elimination tournament where you pit patcher against patcher each creating a patch for the same player. The winner is determined by either a panel or a poll in the forums(may not be feasible unless you can control the number of times a person can vote.). The winner moves on to the next round to face another patcher this time with a new player they must each patch.

You can give each patcher a set time limit to complete the patch(say a week) and whatever they have at the end of the time period is their entry. That way you the contestants are all working under the same time constraints etc...

Let me know what you guys think.. I, personally would think it would be cool to see the best patchers out there (Tony, Mitch, Travis Kobe8, etc...) all going up against each other.

Let me know what you guys think?

I think I should win uhh just because of my roster update that is great...*CHEAP PLUG* Just kidding anyways I think it would work if you lowered the # of participants. It'd be interesting to see the quality of work that would be produced if a prize was on the line

Yes. The people who enter are supposed to post links to download the files.

Unfortunately no one has entered except UltraNIX, despite Tony saying he's not going to enter.

So I guess, either we'll just give it to UltraNIX or close the competition. Since nobody wants to win a free copy of the game.

I heard some guy is going to submit a patch that has something to do with game speach! :o so don't close it yet.

I think the comp would be much more efficient if you do ausar's idea. because then that way people feel that they might have a chance to win without making some huge patch. They can just make a cyberface against somebody. the comp would be more active and more fun. and especially at this date, when there's nothing really left to patch.

I'm pretty sure some people are still working on their stuff...and since the deadline is Sept 21st there is still lots of time to enter...I'm sure there will be a few more entries...

I don't have the time nor resources to manage a patchers tournament like i mentioned above, but i would certainly be interested in competing in one. It's just the sort of inspiration i need to get going again...A couple of other ideas to add to the one i proposed above:

1.) Seeding could be based on the body of work that the patcher has done for the prior year . Quantity as well as quality would be taken into account. The #1 seeds would be fairly obvious but seeding the middle to lower seeds would be a bit trickier. But, depending on the amount of patchers involved that may not be as big a problem as one would think.

Obivous #1 seeds would be...Tony, Mitch, Travis, but who else? hmmmm...

2.) You''d probably want to limit the number of contestants anyway to no more than say 24 - 32 (even 32 is a bit high!) because you want the lower seeds to have SOME chance of upseting the higher seeds and the more you add the lower the quality of work you'll get.

3.) And maybe, just maybe we cn get a contact at EA to look at the work and possbly judge or sponsor it in some way (in the spirit of fun!) This would be a cool way to bring attention to some of the great patchers out there and who knows...maybe get some job offers (you never know!!)

Anyway, that's all for now. Reply and if you think you would like to particpate in something like this. I just wanna see if we could get a good amount of people involved.

Our ENtry

Postby bats on Thu Sep 18, 2003 3:31 pm

Our entry for this competition is
PBA Live 2003.
Definitely the biggest and most complete MOD for NBA Live.
(NO offense meant Tony, NBA Street MOD amazing!!!! the quality of your work is unfathomable)

However, we understand that no one here gives a sh*t about the PBA. and it's ok if we don't win. :D

PBA is the pro league of the Philippines. It's the best pro league (in terms of organization, not talent) outside the USA (david stern said that . hehehe).

-everything has been changed. menus, screens, courts, players, jerseys, music, logos, etc.

-We made over 120 Cyberfaces.

-We even made our own theme song.
"Put Your Game On"- The PBa Live Anthem- rapped (in english) by Phd and produced by Traumatik.

-We also made our own Arena Speech file (to be included in v1.5, in two days)
The arena announcer says Danny Ildefonso, Mark Caguioa, Johnny Abarrientos.... all of the filipino players!

Check out our site at

http://pbalive.panelo.com
( v1.4 is the current downloadable , v1.5 will be released in 2 days. Im still doing refinements. :))

The MOD is making waves here in the philippines and has been heavily bootlegged. damn. You can buy it for 100 pesos (2 dollars) everywhere. which sucks.... :x IT has also been dowloaded 9,264 times.
