Postby swoopes63 on Tue Nov 19, 2002 7:57 am

I have a Dell P3, 664MHz, Win XP Pro with 386MB Ram. I need help! Is there a patch for win xp. I have installed Directx 8.1, but it didn't help.

Your puter may be too slow for this game. I don't know though, I'm sure there are many gurus out there who found a way to play it on maximum settings on a similar computer. So... hang in there.. ;)

vid card

Postby scholt on Tue Nov 19, 2002 2:15 pm

i bet your vid card is an intel motherboard integrated video card (8mb)

not nearly enough

go to www.newegg.com and buy a geforce 3 or 4 ti for pretty cheap and reap the rewards baby!!!

to check your card:

go to desktop
right click anywhere
click properties
click settings
click advanced

what is the tab in the top right?
mine says geforce 4 ti 4400 cuz that is what i have
then you can click on it to see the specs

m.i. out

I have an Intel 82810 Graphics controller. I don't think anything is wrong with my video card because I can Madden 2003 and any other game on it, but not NBA Live 2003. I have even played previous versions of NBA Live on my computer with no problem.

are you using a gamepad to play the game? If you are, there are some gamepad drivers incompatible with XP. Symptoms would be choppy graphics and gets choppier every minute. Cure is...instead of using the bundled driver software of the gamepad, use the native drivers of the XP.

if you are going to buy a new video card, make sure your motherboard has an agp slot you can use! sometimes, mobo's with integrated video don't have an extra agp slot to upgrade

Unfortunately for me I have found a way to get a listing of what is on your system. You simply generate a service request (but don't send it, unless you need the help anyway). In the process of doing so, a program that EA included will scan your entire system for the necessary hardware and software that resides on your system. You can save this report for sending to EA or for your own purposes.

Go through your start menu to the folder where NBA 2003 resides. Select "Technical Support"
Click the "Support Info" button at the top.
Click on "Online" on the left after that.
Then Click on "Contact Technical Support" near the bottom of the screen.
Click the "OK" Button on the small window that comes up.
The program will do a scan and bring back a dialog box with tabs for different parts of your system. This will give you an idea of what is on your system if you don't already know.

Swoopes, another thing you may want to try is updating your video drivers for the Intel 810. The drivers that ship with those motherboards are buggy, but the latest from Intel's sight fixed a number of problems on my friend's PC. Their site is http://www.intel.com/support/index.htm .

I think you've only got 8MB on that chipset anyway, so I doubt it will run Live 2003 at all. I haven't tried it myself....
