Postby Svenator on Tue Nov 19, 2002 6:45 am

I have changed the Orginal File with the MS Toolkit in this way:

FGPBASE * 0.7
THREEBASE * 0.7
SPEED * 0.7
QUICK * 0.7
STL * 0.7
BLK * 0.7
DUNK * 0.8

You can Download it from here:

I have a question, how do you edit that stuff? Can you edit the attributes of the players in your franchise? What happens when in the franchise you start a new season and all the rookies come in?

I edit the players.dbf with the good old NBA Live 2001 Toolkit.
This is very easy.
Yes I can edit the attributes of the players in my franchise, it is the same.
Before you edit the player-attributes with the Toolkit you must locate the players.dbf, career.dbf and teams.dbf file.
You can simply take the files from your saved franchise.
to the last question:

from the tim tschirner interview:

NLSC: "What kind of improvements have been made to Franchise Mode? Is it greatly different from previous years?"

TT: "..... We have also tuned the Rookie generation process so new Rookies enter the League with Ratings that are completely in sync with the rest of the players."

Sorry for my bad english

Sven,

I think it woud be a real help to all of us, if you were to post a few examples of the stats you are getting from these ratings changes. Also, post what settings you had, like:

Arcade or Sim?
Starter or All-Star, etc?
How many min. quarters?
Where the fouls are set at?
CPU Assist?
Any specific strategy changes to increase realism?

I think that's about it. Thanks for the work.

No Problem Mase!

I play:
8 Minutes
Simulation
ALL-Star Level....The FT's are way too difficult in SUPERSTAR-Level
def.Fouls 8 Klicks from the left
off.Fouls 8 Klicks from the left
Fouls Out 5
Sim Quarter 12 Minutes

My last Games were Mavs vs. Starbury's Suns 100 - 88
Mavs vs Grizzlies 80 - 104 ;O(

unfortunately I didn't save the boxscore

no specific strategy...

Thank you Svenator. I hope it's true and rookies will be "in sync" with the league. I just hope he didn't mean that their ratings will be in sync with the ratings EA originally had.

One more question, and it's to all of you guys. Do you have to edit the ratings one by one, or can you just say that you want to lower all the ratings by this much? I don't think I have the time to go and change the ratings individually for every player in the game.

funnyguy with the toolkit you have the MegaModifier option

with the MegaModifier you can change all player attributes with one klick

Example:

Team to modify: All teams (here you can also change to only one team)
position to modify: All position (here you can change to for example only the pg)
rating to modify: FG/Jumpg shooting (all known attributes)
Action to do: Multiple by (set to, raise by, divide by)
Value to set: 0.7

voila!!
the changes tooks no time, but the testing was pain in the ass...and I'm
still in the testing time

i hope this helps you

I downloaded your roster and played, nice work. Does most of what I'm looking for. I was wondering, since you are doing it with an editor, could you do one with the defensive awareness jacked up along with your current figures. I'd like to see how that plays; seems that with higher DA the guards get back and create more half court opportunities. Thanks either way.

No Prob with the def. Awarness, but for me it is OK when I'm play not to much run an gun I have not so much transition game
I will make it later and post it here, if it is ready to download. ;)
Have anyone a good roster with all the current trades etc.
Then I change this one, I have not the time to to this all by myself

You can download it in the NLSC Download sektion, the creator is JonathanAu....see two posts before.
This Tool is not a big secret, it was my best friend in the dark NBA Live 2001 time. You couldn't play Live 2K1 without changing the rebounding.

my toolkit work fine, but I remember the installation was not so easy.

i think we could fix the ballhandling problem with higher ballhandling ratings (sounds easy ;)), but I will test it in the evening by myself, because i do not remember that I have this problems in my last games.

you're roster is great. The stats i get are what i wanted. Only the blocks are still a bit too high. I played with the mavs on All-Star. 10 min quarters. I won 101-88 but Michael Finley had 9 Blocks although his block rating is only 56 !?!

Maybe i try to play on Superstar where computer controlled players don't block anymore.

Yeah, I have the same Problem, especially with Finley... I don't now why..his position, speed...jumping abilitys...?
Today I will make new Rosters with all the transactions.
I think I will make two Rosters, one with the old multipliers,
another with Block * 0.5......
