In addition to the hairstyle that appears in the .fsh file, there are some special hairstyles that can be added through editing players.dbf. See my Players.dbf Editing Guide for more details on the HAIR field.

Using DB Commander or the DBF editor of your choice, open players.dbf and change the HAIR value for the appropriate player.

No, they can have a hairstyle. The special hair is added to the existing hairstyle (eg length added to the hair in Steve Nash's cyberface). It's used in conjunction with a player's static hairstyle, not as a replacement.
