roster patch

Postby neo_genesis on Fri May 23, 2008 2:10 am

I was looking for a roster patch for Live 2003 with the opening and/or final rosters for the 2002-2003 season. Is there one? Could anyone help me out or tell me where I could get that. Thanks.

I think that roster update has rosters for a later season. Thanks anyway.

I've been through my archives but I can't find any NBA Live 2003 rosters earlier than my final update for the 2003/2004 season, sorry.

I was wondering where I could get info on the 2002-2003 opening rosters. I just need a list of players for the teams. Where do you get info when you make roster updates btw?

Info and player statistics are available from a variety of sources, NBA.com being one of the main ones. When all else fails, Google.

The NBA media guides usually contain opening night rosters. You can get a copy of the 2002/2003 guide here.

Wow. Just what I wanted. hehe. Thanks.

I have another question. How do I get new players into the East/West All-Star Teams? I tried doing that through dbf editing. What I did was I copied the record of the particular player I wanted to add into the All-Star Team, then I changed the "origteam" and "team". But when I load and check the rosters, the team ends up with just one player. What the? haha. Am I doing something wrong?

Do you know the links to download NBA Media Guides of other seasons?

I don't have any handy, I happened to have the 2002/2003 Media Guide so I just uploaded it. You should be able to Google them.

Thanks again. I finally have opening night rosters and All-Star teams for the 2002-2003 season in my game. Though I'm missing 10 players. Oh well. hehe.

That tutorial was helpful, though I gotta say the method in there for adding original players in the game to the All-Star teams seemed a bit tedious. I just used the copy record option in DB commander and edited the attributes that needed editing for the particular player. I used a player ID that was next to my last created player and so on. It was more convenient and quicker to do.

I'll have to give that a try. I've always done it manually as it usually reduces the risk of corrupting the database.

Btw, is it possible to make some players' shorts shorter? I was just thinking how it's weird seeing players like Larry Bird and Julius Erving wearing "baggy" shorts in the game. haha.

Not through DBF editing since that option isn't available in NBA Live 2003. Maybe it could be achieved through editing the shorts files and using transparency (since NBA Live 2003 allows you to assign custom jerseys to specific players), but not being an expert on graphics patches that idea could be complete nonsense.

Oh well. I guess the baggy shorts will do. haha.

Btw, I'm curious about the player ratings. "Speed" refers to how fast the player runs, right? What about "Quickness"? How does that affect the player?

It refers more to lateral movement and the speed of a player's first step and the ability to blow by defenders whereas the Speed rating is simply how fast a player can sprint from point A to point B.

Is it possible to assign particular jerseys to other teams? For example...let's say I'd like to use the 80's jerseys for the 90's team. I've actually done that with the use of EAgraph, but I was wondering if something like that could be done through dbf editing.

Sure. Copy the data for the 80s All-Stars jerseys and change the TEAMID number so they're assigned to the Pistons.

I was wondering if it's possible to change the default teams in the playoff mode, and also the default teams on the team selection screen when I first start up a game. Could that be done through dbf editing or some other method?

You can change the default playoff teams. You just need to update the SEED attribute in teams.dbf.

Thanks. It works great...Wish I could change the default teams on the team selection screen too, but that doesn't seem to be possible. Is it? At default, it's New Jersey vs. LA Lakers.

It used to be possible with the earlier Lives; I have a feeling NBA Live 2001 was the last one in which it was possible.

I didn't know that. I've never had the chance to play Live 2001 on PC. I wonder if the sound effects for that game works with 2003. I know 2005's sound effects work with 2004 and onwards, but it doesn't seem to work with 2003. Boo! LoL!
