Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

We're all dumb sheep!

Postby zorano on Tue Apr 15, 2003 8:39 pm

I've shortly read the wishlist for NBA 2004 and I startet laughing like a madman.I don't know ,when you guys will realize that your wishes won't be fullfilled. You can believe me I am addicted to this game. But this is an special "EA Sports illness" making some features better and others even worst.I will explain it to you.
1.They could make the game fantastic but they won't.
You must realize that NBA series have a certain budget(for example 1,000,000 points). They spent min.650,000 points for licences(NBA logos, player names and so on ..)and graphics envelopment!
The rest for is used for commercials ,game testers and so on..And when this is done, they start improving the gameplay(with a budget of -100.000 points HA).
That's all.
2.But if they really make an extraordinary game ,in which you are able
to unleash your creativity(Making thousands of jerseys, faces, custom teams, realistic players ....),would you then really buy the next volume?I think you won't ,because just for tradings and new rookies it's not worth buying a new game.Especially when you can edit it by yourself easily!

But I have a simple solution to avoid this problem of crying and moaning every year for the same time.
I know it's hard ,because we are all addicted!

HEY MAN ,STOP BUYING IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SIMPLY DON'T DO IT EVEN IF YOU DIE!!!

When we all do that , they simply must improve the game in order to sell it.
STOP BUYING SHIT!!!!
You are working too hard for your money to spent it for something you don't want!

P.S.I am sorry, maybe I made some mistakes in gramatics. But I am not a tommy or yankee!
Thank you
Cheers

That's one approach. But for some of us, rather than boycott the product and/or throw every insult we can muster at EA, making suggestions, offering customer feedback, is another way of endeavouring to improve a game we are interested in.

If everyone stops buying Live, EA won't take it upon themselves to improve the game (and how can they if we don't tell them what we want in the first place?), they'll discontinue making the series. If everyone boycotts the game without saying what they want out of it, that shows no interest, hence, no games in the future.

I don't know ,when you guys will realize that your wishes won't be fullfilled

Adding commentary, adding a second colour commentator, Franchise Mode, One-On-One, current run (12-2, 39-5, etc, not just unanswered scoring runs), playoff specific graphics, hotkey to call timeout, alley-oop button, more player accessories, referees, player introductions and cutscenes, have players react to dunks/good plays...these are just some of the things that have been in past Wishlists, and have made their way into NBA Live.

I've warned you before about those kinds of comments (about people being losers, not having lives, wasting their time, being geeks, etc). I'm not going to warn you again.

Sorry guys,I didn't want to overact.Boykotting the game isn't my best idea. But simply compare Live 2000 and 2001!

I)
1.You are not able anymore creating a team(Custom team)
2.No practice mode
3.No 3pt shoot out
4.No saving during a game(Definetly the worst)5.Lowerd shooting percentage ,which results in getting thousands of rebounds
6.No difference in AI by selecting Super-mode! The player-abilities(shooting,rebounding etc.only improve)
7.No Halftime-show
8.No key-player stats in halftime and so on .......

The positive thing is that the graphics are really better. And other things that stayed the same.

The heart and soul of the game is the original NBA feeling.Thats o.k.
II)
But this is not the only game of EA .I've played the FIFA series too.And it's the same problem. The good things were cut.

The good things were cut.

you said it all right there, they took away some of the good things and didnt really add much new.

Lowerd shooting percentage ,which results in getting thousands of rebounds

i must admit this is one problem in my very edited game, the fg% is about right but its easy to snag 15 boards if u try

No practice mode

does the pc version not have this? i play on the ps2 and it has it there.

No Halftime-show

aahhh... the cheerleaders, i miss them to

yeah, this game really dissapoints gamers.. of live series.

ey, about rebounding.. ive experimented on this.. dnt taking offensive rebounds? try that and ull hav 8- 9 or sometimes higher rebounds per game if your playing for 5mins per game..

but the punishing through this gameplay is that you can score under the rim as long as you like. this game made us bored.

PS1 live 2003, gameplay so real..but still ea missed something. hard to take to the rim, panick games..

but this is the part of there strategy maybe.. critics then play then sucked then cycled another game to try.. hope they improved and improved.. just like when you play you get better and better.. then drop so another will rise up..

This is an NBA Live fansite, and an NBA Live forum. The whole point is to discuss NBA Live - everyone is free to do that. Some people choose to do that, you do not. Everyone has to respect everyone else's right to post, without having the value of their posts or their personalities judged.

Sorry guys,I didn't want to overact.Boykotting the game isn't my best idea.

No need to apologise, you're entitled to your opinion. For the sake of discussion, I was simply adding my perspective. :)

1.You are not able anymore creating a team(Custom team)

It's unfortunate that it hasn't made its way back into the series, which is why we do keep asking for it, in the hope that the interest will prompt the production team to include it in future Lives.

2.No practice mode

There is a practice mode in NBA Live 2002 and NBA Live 2003. It's not the fully fledged mode we'd want (practice free throws, practice 5 on 5 with your team, etc), but it does exist in the same capacity as Live 99 and 2000.

3.No 3pt shoot out

I must admit, I wouldn't mind seeing the return of this exhibition mode. But if it comes down to improving the gameplay or having the 3 point shootout...yeah.

5.Lowerd shooting percentage ,which results in getting thousands of rebounds

I know you're comparing NBA Live 2000 and NBA Live 2001, but since you mentioned the Wishlist, it's only fair to point out that it's mostly based on NBA Live 2003 - where field goal percentage is much too high, but rebounds are fairly normal.

6.No difference in AI by selecting Super-mode! The player-abilities(shooting,rebounding etc.only improve)

Yes, that's still a problem, the CPU "cheats" rather than simply playing more intelligently. That continues to cause frustration in a few of my Franchise games.

7.No Halftime-show
8.No key-player stats in halftime and so on .......

Key players, other half-time stats would be a nice touch. I never really cared for half-time shows myself. A short clip of the team's players from last season is worth leaving out, if it means energy is put into improving other areas of the game.

But I believe I did put that in the Wishlist...after all, it's the community's list, not just mine. :)

no one has more than 80, i also adjusted the quickness to match the players likeness, no one has more than 90. ive taken the endurance down as well, no one has more than 80.
thats pretty much all that ive done to the speed area, if you would like the complete ratings for all the players i could email it to you

i think its realistic except for denver. even in the default roster denver seems to be on top of the standings. i can't belive it with a roster that has no superstar in its team and still manages to win games. this must be a bug.

maybe.

id tweak the rosters more, so they show a realistic view but i dont want to mess the game play up. When you play denver there a push over !! and dallas kills you, but when simmed it shows a different picture
