Players just stand pat, game put on hold after foul

One of my better games so far into my franchise mode, I've led all throughout the game. Every player I put in the game is playing exceptionally. Virtually perfect.
Now comes this. 4th quarter, more than 9 minutes remaining into the game. Yao Ming is fouled. After picking up the ball under the goal to shoot a free throw, suddenly EVERY PLAYER IN THE COURT just stopped moving! The players did not freeze, in case you misunderstood. Their heads, hands, body, etc. are still moving. However, everyone of them just stood in their respective places! Dang!
I tried exhausting all timeouts (both mine and the opponents) to no avail. I had no other option but to restart the game.
I can't blame EA for having bugs like these. How come EA Sports removed the in-game saving mode???!?! I mean, here in my country, brownouts usually occur and I can't rely on my 15-minute UPS all the time! Guys at EA, please bring back the SAVE MODE in the middle of the game (for our emergency and your bugs' sake!).
