Bankshots 'n' ugly jumpshots

Postby Ripper on Thu Apr 03, 2003 5:56 am

I was wondering, some players make far more bankshots then others. Some even make threepoint bankshots. Also some players, usually centers, have a different jumpshot (an ugly jumpshot). I was wondering this might have to do with the score area (to be found in players.dbf) of a player.
So, if you notice one of your player suffers from one of these symptoms, could you post it's scorearea here?

As for that ugly jumpshot, I once created Lebron James and he had that jumpshot, very frustrating. And it also shows that height or position doesn't seem to be the 'cause' of the jumpshot.

scorearea is explained in the dbf editing guide on this site, it is how the player usually scores, ie. post-up, shooter, slasher

The "ugly" jumpshot style is used when a player is listed at 6'9" 235 or greater. It seems to be a combination of height and weight. Create a 5'3" 265 centre, and he'll shoot normally.

Is this the style when the player holds it above his head and shoots like Dirk's in the game.

I'm pretty sure that's what he's talking about. :).

Personally i think it's wonderful...we clammered for individuality in live..and Ea gave it to us. We now have different kinds of dunks...jumpshots and allround moves depending on your size. I was tired of shaq doing between the leg dunks in previous nba lives.

Okay, still find it weird that when I created LJames (6'8'' 240 Lbs) he had that jumpshot. But it's nice Nba Live has added more variety, but I don't want to shoot threes with a jumpshot like that.

But has anybody noticed certain players making more bankshots then your average Joe?
By me it's Ginobili (spurs) who has that tendency. Sometimes he hits a long three using the backboard, many times he even throws airballs, but he's my best 3pt shooter on my team with 40%.
