Is there some way we could make a league where 29 GM's run a franchise and we all have our own websites connected up ???

how good would it be though having 29 different franchises running at once on a webpage.. a main page with all the Franchises on it and u can click on each one individually!!!

You could probably just have one person maintaining a central site, linking to 29 different sites. That would be easier to maintain. But as has already been discussed, a lot of people seem to be losing interest in Franchise sites, mainly because they do not - and cannot - feature as much interactivity as a forum like this one. That makes it harder for the visitors to get involved and take an interest in your Franchise.

Not that I think Franchise sites are a terrible idea. I admire the passion and effort that goes into them, I used to maintain a season page when I ran the NBA Live Domain, but I quickly found out that users were much more interested in the patches, news, hints and tips, and so forth that were featured elsewhere on the NLD.

If you want to go ahead and do this, by all means see if you can get a group of people together to accomplish it, but keep in mind the amount of work that must go into Franchise sites, and the number of sites that have become defunct (such as skiptomylou's) due to the declining popularity of Franchise sites in general. If you do go ahead with it, I strongly suggest that you consider my idea of having a central site linking to other sites rather than having them all stored in the same webspace.

i wud be really interested in doing the franchise site thing but wud there be like a fantasy draft or jst normal teams and how would u run things like trades and so on??

yes, but there are already franchise sites out there that are like this. The league sites and they are kind of the idea that you have.

Yeah, that's a slightly different idea, a Sim League. Ben runs one of those over at nbalive.org. I believe all the teams are taken though.

Yup, there's a waiting list of people who want a team. There's even a couple of expansion teams that are filled.

Guys, you should see what the guys over at NLL are getting up to, their league is very well done...it's a sim league...each team has it's own website...you download the latest roster and play the games offline. submit your scores every week. All of the teams are full, though. I'm on the waiting list.
Just thought i'd mention it since it's kinda like the idea you people are cookin' up.

I was just thinking of doing something similar just before i checked this forum.

But if you were going to do it would you do a sim league - as in team gm's do all the behind the scenes work and sim games, or do you play all the games your self?

You could run a franchise, have 29 owners, and play sim one month a week or something like that.
