can they be turned to be always on?
same question is for the auto subs.

yes they can, press start then go into strategys then go into team strategy and there you will find on/off selection for subs, crash boards and box out.

here's the thing about box and crash. (maybe unrelated. just wanted toi share)

if you want your guards to rebound turn the CRASH on. sometimes it can help if you also turn off BOX OUT.

if you want your SF's to rebound (Garnett, Marion, etc), turn the box outr option OFF.

When the box out option is off, speed and quickness to the ball will play a bigger role in grabbing rebounds.
