I am a nebie, and I need help!

i am new to this site, and forum but not at all new to the game. I have been playing it since NBA Live 1997. I just want to know when you download a file, where to you download it to so you can use it in the game? I have tried once or twice before but it did not work, so I have never used updates before. Thank you to whoever is kind enough to help me out.

What file did you dl?

Roster files go into the saves dir, in sub-dirs 001, 002 etc.

I've not dl'd other types of files, but if you tell me what you dl'd I can help figure out where to put it.

I know you're a neWbie, but that means that no one is here! No one is posting in any other threads, so that means no one is necessarily ignoring yours! Maybe a few lurkers are viewing some stuff quickly, but that hardly means yours is being neglected.

ok, lets say I wanted to download The AJ XIII file, where does that go, and how do you know? I have tried downloading AJ for MJ in NBA 2000 before but it did not work, but that is all I remember. Last week I tried downloading a jersey I think, it was one of the new files that came out that week. And aslo, when you are saving the file, do you save it under a specific folder of the game itself or what?Thanks guys, I hope you help me out.

where am I to look for this file that they mention, in the game's files? I did not see it there, but there is a file called setup.

Go to the main game folder (WIN 98: C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 2003). It's in the main\cscripts folder.

ok now, after I have changed the custom from 0 to 1, lets say I want to download the AJ XIII's to the game. Do I go to that .fsh file click on it and save it as something else or what. I tried reading the instalation text ignatu gave me the link to, but I really don't get it. What I think they are saying is to have the old file, and then create a new one, is that it? How do I know which shoe I am creating though? Does every shoe have a number? Thanks guys, I am getting there, but I still don't quite get it. I will get it once you help me out. Thanks once again.

thanks francis, but all that tells you is how to download the file, not how to activate it in the game. I need to know how to activate the files after I have downloaded them.

Sigh..

Open up xstartup.cfg and change the value from 0 to 1 (I'm assuming you did that already). Now download the shoe file (AJ XVIII) and open it. You'll see a file called bsho.fsh inside the zip. Now go to Start > Run and type C:\Program Files\EA Sports\NBA Live 2003\render\" (or whatever directory you installed the game to but add \render\ to the end of it. Now make a new folder inside the render folder named xplayer. Open it up and type a player's name in there (first 2 letters of first name, first 5 letters of last name). For example, mijorda for Michael Jordan. Now put the bsho.fsh in that person's folder and it should show up when you start playing.

there is a slight problem, I have WinZip, but I am not registered to it. So I can't view the fsh file, and by the way it's the AJ XIII not XVIII that I downloaded.

It did not work, the file stays ziped and it can not be viewed in the game.
