NBA Live 2003 Toolkit?

Postby ChochHolla on Sat Nov 16, 2002 6:30 am

Will there be a Toolkit 2003 to edit Live this season...? i found that extremely useful in editing dbf files without causing crashes....

I am a little afraid to change things in Excel... because i dont know the upper and lower limits of these fields... and i dont want to screw it all up. :?

I agree with ya.....I thought I read Jonathan Au was fixing up the one from 2001 and putting it out but I cannot find it in a search of the boards.

I hope something comes about that makes it a little easier and safer to edit rosters.....I have been using the ingame editor trying to tweak ratings to see what works the best, not fun

nope, I didn't say I'm "fixing up one from 2001 and putting it out".
What I said was I don't have Live 2003 yet so I can't start working on the new version of the Toolkit. And, that only a few database changes were made (based on the Demo), so you should be able to edit the data using the 2001 toolkit.

Any differences?

Postby charles on Tue Nov 19, 2002 9:46 pm

Jonathan,

Which parts are the differences between the Player.dbf of 2001 and 2003? I don't want to change those parts by accident and make error...

Thanks :)

i've noticed one difference. It is not that they have NEW fields. but that the numbers in the field have different value. when i look at the game ratings it says adonal foyle has the highest block rating of 90. yet in the toolkit, it says foyle has an 84. so i am assuming NBA live has changed the index so that you have to make more drastic changes in the editor in order to make a difference in the game rating. also live 2003 has 14 dunk pakages which is better for us over all. i guess i d better wait for TOOLKit 2003 or change things with the multiplier MEGAMODIFIER.

Thanks for pointing that out ChochHolla.
Well, I already have the game and I've started working on the new Toolkit. I will most likely release the new version next week. Maybe middle of the week.

Thanks ChochHolla for the info! Anyway, what is the MEGAMODIFIER?

Jonathan, that's great to hear that you'll make a new 2003 toolkit! By the way, how can you make it so fast? Do you plan to write it in VB.NET so users don't have to use Access? (Just wanna know only  )

Thanks!

I'm planning to release the Access version next week. I'll only make adjustments to the 2001 Toolkit so all the 2003 fields will be shown. So basically, I'm just releasing an update.

As for a non-Access system, I'd like to do one. Maybe on vb.net. But I don't have enough time yet.

YOu need to get RmDstats to remove the dstats from all the players.dbf files. The game is more exciting when those stats are removed.

I don't think RmDstats works with any other version except NBA Live 2001. I don't know if Lutz is planning on making an updated version for Live 2003 though.

maybe what i pointed out earlier was incorrect...
I am not sure if the i am ever seeing my changes to player.dbf b/c i dont think its loading that specific player.dbf. i am seeing this currentdbf folder, workingdbf, and originaldbf... and i dont know what purpose they serve.

i installed Jared patches and i keep an eye kobes fg rating which is 82 in that patch. but no matter what roster i import , what change i make to the fg of Kobe... it does go any lower than 82. even when i start the game and presumably there is no roster loaded... the fg is STILL 82..even when i know that the original game had kobe as an 87 fg.

can someone help... ? is there a way to start off with no rosters loaded, so its easier to find out if i actually made changes to the game when changing the player.dbf of a specific /saves/ folder.

i just want to see some change happen so i can tweak things to my liking...

disregard that other post JonathanAu....
the numbers are correct when you change them... there was a problem with me having a 001 and 002 save folder (w/o a 000 folder), so that the game would never load the alternate roster. NBA live 2001 works perfectly.

toolkit

Postby scholt on Mon Nov 25, 2002 12:27 pm

i used the toolkit this weekend, and it worked fine,

but i fudged up the stats too much so i had to reinstall the game

now i cant get the mega modifier to work, and i dont remember what i did two days ago to make it work, it was alot of trial and error

can anyone help me?

i need very simple instructions....ie, where to put the toolkit, what dbfs to get, i like to modify my 'saves' folder

or should i just wait for the new toolkit?

thanks

you need to select the .dbf files u want to edit first....you can put them where ever u like, (ie: saves or origdb or currentdb directory) or wherever..but tell the toolkit where they are so you can edit them...

megamodifer lets u modify a large amount of players in the game
example: select all teams, all players, then choose fg, then lets say subtract by 10 points or wuteva... now all player in the game have 10 less fg points
