problems with the all-star patch? (losing use of controller)

hey guys, i recently installed the patch to use the all-start jerseys for an allstar game and after doing so, i could no longer use my controller! it shows up but when i load the game and actually start to play, it shifts to keyboard mode and that's it. any suggestions as to how to remedy this problem?
