question about running plays

Hi, I'm a neo here. I happened on this site by accident, and so far, it's really cool. I'm sw1 and I've played the live series for awhile but just started to play on the pc with live 2001. Now I'm going to get live 2003 for the pc. Ok, now that I've introduced myself.
I've never played organized basketball so beyond pick and rolls, isolations and chucking into the post, I've never been able to run a play, like one of the motion plays or the box outs, the high post, yada yada. I never seem to get the ball to the right guy at the right time, because it's picked off, they are moving too fast, or I can't remember who gets the ball when, and where they move to once they have the ball.
I think that if I were to be able to run plays, then I'd have a lot more fun playing, and a better chance at beating guys that are really good.
Does anyone run plays at all? If so, would you share some suggestions that would allow me to be able to run some? Which are the easiet? Thanks.

Are you using "direct pass"? That should make it easier getting the ball to the right player.

no, I don't use that much at all. I kind of always wondered why that button was put in to the game. I'll try that. Thanks!
