A question to the latest NLSC-roster (Andrew perhaps)

Wed Feb 12, 2003 10:52 pm

Hi,

The new roster with opening night, tweaks, no injuries etc. seems to be great. I will be using the tweaked version...but what tweaks did you use? As all rookies have to be tweaked at the start of a new season I have to know how the tweaks are, in order to tweak them with the program by Zipbreak.

What tweaks did you use, please? (all ratings, also inside, primacy and so on...)

Please be so kind as to post your ratings some how like that, e.g.

FG - 15, 3point - 5, inside - 10 ...

I have permission to use DK's coefficients, and since they yield the best results, those are the coefficients I use in the tweaked version of the rosters. I still recommend not using the tweaked version in Franchise mode, but if you are willing to tweak the rookies every year, then check your Private Messages.

Why shouldn't I use the tweaked version in franchise mode? What would be the disadvantages?

In my point of view, the game cannot be enjoyed without tweaks, if I started a franchise with the default roster and ratings, I would get way to high FG% and so on..but I am a fanatic concerning stats, I wanna get realistic stats...

What roster do you recommend for a franchise?

Regards,

Leander

Tweaked ratings yield unrealistic and unusual simulated stats for players who do not have Dstats. Additionally, when the overall ratings are recalculated, players like Kobe Bryant are 69 overall, making trades and free agency unrealistic and in the case of trades, sometimes impossible.

I recommend the normal versions of the roster for Franchise Mode. The tweaked version will work, but they are not optimised for playing a Franchise, so you will encounter the problems mentioned above. Constant recalculation of overall ratings, unrealistic overall ratings, and unrealistic simulated stats.

Just wondering, why does Atlanta have a homecourt advantage of 1300 and New Orleans have a homecourt advantage of -200? Previously, the Hornets were at a disadvantage playing at the old Charlotte Coliseum but since the Hornets are now playing at their new stadium in New Orleans shouldn't their homecourt advantage be greater than -200?

Those are the default ratings, I haven't updated anything in teams.dbf.

Andrew,

Is it possible for you to update the team.dbf to reflect the homeadvantage based on the current standings?

Sure, no trouble at all. :)

Two questions:

1)Do the values for Homecourtadvantage change each season in franchise mode? Having a static value for homecourtadvantage doesn't make sense since team success on the home court is determined by the abilities of the players on the court. For example, during 1995-1998, Bulls had a tremendous homecourt advantage but after 1998, the Bulls have had a terrible home record. Does the game take account the previous year' record to determine the value for homecourtadvantage or is it fixed?

2)Did EA take away the override button for trades that was included in previous versions?

Thanks.

1. I don't know, I'll have to check that.
2. Yes

Andrew,

What's DSTATS? Can you give me a more detailed explanation regarding this field?

When the game generates rookies in tweaked rosters, obviously the game will generate newcomers whose stats/ratings will be greater than those of present players. [I think a similar thread has been discussed somewhere but I couldn't get a firm grasp, unfortunately (my head was somewhere else then. lol)]

Q1. Is it possible to calculate using the formula *only* for the generated rookies (without doing it manually/one-by-one)?

Q2. If the answer is no, can we then re-calculate the stats (before rookies are generated) back to the normal ratings and then restore the formula once the rookies are generated?

Q3. I am using the NBA Live Toolkit 2003. Is it possible to input the formula only for a specific field? (ie. formula for each category like FG, 3PT, etc.) That way, users can input their own formulae accordingly.

1. Yes, if you use ZipBreak's utility.
2. You could, which is another alternative.
3. I use the Mega Modifier to one by one apply coefficients (first adjusting all FG ratings, then 3PT ratings etc), so you could do the same to the untweaked rosters, applying as many or as little of the tweaks as you wish.

DSTATS or development stats, are the player statisics in players.dbf that are stored in fields beginning with D (DFGATT for example). These statistics are used by the game to determine simulated performance. If a player has no DSTATS (ie. he is a created player, or one generated by the game), the game will calculate his simulated performance from his ratings. This is a problem if you are using tweaked rosters.

As always, I do not recommend using tweaked rosters for franchise play. I cannot guarantee the success or proper function of Franchise Mode using the tweaked rosters.

Hi, I'm playing franchise mode (I know that's not good idea with tweaked rosters  ) I would like to change my rookies. They were created after 1st season.

Could you send me the formula ? I would like to request how exactly were you able to apply changes.

Please.

I'll send it to you via PM.

Andrew,

Me, too! Send me the formula! I'm going to do some calculating stuffs like voytaz. :D

Thanks.

By the way, can you point out what changes were made in 1.05 (as opposed to 1.04), aside from the lineup changes (player's stats, package, etc.). I may have to edit those myself manually since I'm already using 1.04's stats in my Franchise mode.

Thanks again.

v1.05 was just superficial stuff, jersey numbers, player positions and of course, transactions/lineup changes. I'll send you the formula when I've finished this post.
