All Star VS. Superstar

Postby DK on Sun Feb 02, 2003 12:27 pm

Does anyone else wish there was a medium level between these 2 (If EA gave us sliders for this game, all this would not be necessary)

Here are the tendencies I have noticed between these 2 after playing for a while, this is all with tweaked rosters

All Star
-The human offense is pretty good and realistic
-The CPU though seems to be stupid on offense, but takes a variety of shots
-CPU always gets behind and then never catches up
-CPU likes to drive accros the lane and kick it to the corner where the ball is intercepted 90% of the time
-Turnovers are sky high
-CPU defense is a little loose and getting to the rim is a little too easy
-Human defense is just right as you can give up 38%-60% FG depending on who and how you play

Superstar
-On defense the CPU does nothing for you (this is so dumb  )
-On offense the CPU always posts up, so every trip down the ball is tossed to the PF/C and he backs you down and 90% of shots are in the paint
-On offense the human can't hit an open 17 ft jumpshot to save their life
-On offense the CPU hits way too many inside shots
-On offense the CPU hits every open jumper
-On offense the CPU hits 95% (Unless it is a 3pt attempt) in a shotclock is running down to the last second situation
-Turovers are low and nice
-FT bar moves at light speed
-CPU defense is tight and nice

I wish there was a mode where the human could shoot like All Star, and Play D like All Star, but the CPU played D like Super Star, and they took the same type of shots as All Star and made a few more, and the turovers were like Super Star.

I hope I made sense

I agree, it's something I've thought about before. All-Star can be too easy, but sometimes Superstar can be too frustrating, for the reasons you mentioned (your CPU defenders useless, CPU opponents hit too many shots they shouldn't). It was apparent in Live 2002, I was hoping that NBA Live 2003 would feature a satisfactory medium.

Perhaps if future Lives were to incorporate sliders for realism control, rather than having realism depend on the difficulty level. That way, you could control both the challenge and realism of the game with two different settings, which would probably be the most satisfying solution.
