Draft Pool

Hi everyone
This question has probably been addressed a million times before but it's my first time in the Franchise board.
Is there a way, once you have started a franchise, to add players into a draft pool at the end of a season? With LeBron coming out next year and Jameer Nelson (I go to Saint Joseph's so I love Jameer) the year after next, it would be nice to have them and other real players as part of the draft pool. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I know it's possible, but I've yet to successfully do it myself (though I haven't tried for a while, and not since I got Live 2003), so I can't really advise you step by step at this time.

One thing I did once was to go to NBA Draft.net and edit the rookies after that draft but thats no point really

I think you can do it prior to the draft if you use the Toolkit. I haven't had toolkit since I got Live03, but you could generate a draft pool with toolkit in Live01. You may be able to do it with other db editors too, there a lot of info about 'rookie this' and 'rookie that' in players.dbf.

it is possible, I was one of the first people to do it way back in the day. 2003 is a bit different. But not much. Just create the players you want save the file then go in with Toolkit "I use CDBF" Make Sure these things are in place. {for all your created players}

1. make sure {yearsexp} is 0 or leave it blank I would go with 0

2. make sure {team} is set to 39 you may ave to add {origteam} to 39 also. Not sure with 2003

3. in previous live's You neaded to have {iscreated} set to T But with creating your player it should already be set there. But if it fails try setting to F

4. Now the most important thing {isgenerate} should be set to T

----Andrew---- It be a really cool feature for your rosters to have all the next year recruits if you wanted to go to all the trouble of makeing them.

ps.... acouple bad things about this. The game will also create about 48 or so players they you have to go in and delete later {or i sapose you can keep them} And if all your players are not above a 75 overall The crap players will be drafted.

I was thinking of adding a few prospects to the current rosters, but I'll probably better utilise it if I make any old season roster patches for NBA Live 2003 (I'm thinking about it, but I know from experience they take a while to complete). I'm thinking of writing up a tutorial on it though, for the Live 2003 resources section on the NLSC.

you can indeed add them to a franchise already started. you just need to create the players in the default roster to get a player id name for them and the attributes you want them to have and so on, then go into dbviewer or dbcommander, change their teams to 30, the isgenerated and iscreated fields to true( number 1 in the box) the plyrs strengths and weaknesses if you want those (may need a little research for the category values), the players draft ratings to determine where they should go, etc. if you haven't done it before save your franchise under a new folder as a test and save again at the end of the season before the off season starts so that you can go back to before the draft if you need to in order to get everything right. i just had emeka okufor (college plyr if nobody's heard of him) go 6th in a test draft with my current season and everything went fine, so it'll take some work and you'll have a ton of free agents but you can make a realistic draft.
