Breaking the backboard

Postby Full Surface on Mon Jan 06, 2003 12:28 am

Is there any way to break the glass backboard? My friend said he did it once with a freestyle dunk but I don't know whether he's lying or not.

You've never been able to break the backboards in NBA Live, and as far as I'm aware, Live 2003 is no exception.

ey, i don't advise breakin backboards either. I tried it with AI during a sixers-wizards match. MJ and Jerry Stackhouse laid unconscious on the court after the board went down. Then there's this ambulance that came out of nowhere and brought the two of the hospital. The incident left the two injured for the rest of the season and retired after the season.

Must've been traumatic for them

was it DoubleDribble for the old nintendo where the backboard would get broke like three times a game? Glass would shower the court, play would stop, the janitor came out sweeping up. I mean, its cool if it would happen for certain players one out of 2000 dunks, but not as often as in whatever game that was. so anyway, my point is that it would be alright if it was a feature saved for RARE occasions. But your friend lied to you dude, that ain't in Live. You can dunk from the free-throw line though.

Well if someone is actually able to do it, save some screenshots of it for proof!

The old, old, old game One on One: Dr. J. vs. Larry Bird had the backboard break a lot. The janitor would come out, sweep up the glass and curse out Bird and Dr. J. I played that game on the Commadore 64 (did I mention it was old?)!
And speaking of long dunks, one of the EA games (Lakers vs. Bulls maybe; it was for the genesis) had special moves for key players. Tom Chambers of the Suns would take off from the 3 point line, double-clutch in mid-air and finish with a two-hand dunk!!!

yeah bchogan...SHawn Kemp & Derrick Coleman had the dunk were they toss it off the glass jump from the foul line catch it that throw it down.

Larry Bird had the ugly 360 3 point shot from the corner.

Mike had the up and under move where I swear he grew twice his size while floating in the air.

Chambers and Barkley had the 3-point line monster jam....

In Coach K You could tear down a backdoard i remember.

Break Glass

Postby ignatu on Tue Feb 04, 2003 3:04 pm

Yes you can break the glass in NBA Live 2003.

I did it with Shaq. A shard of glass hit a fan who sued my team. Now I have lawyers chasing me around the Internet.
