If realism is what sells then why is Live2003 the most arcadey Basketball game out there.

No wonder why Sega is kicking their ass in basketball games sale.
Realism sells plain and simple, guess the producers at EA canada thought different.

But...Sega isn't "kicking their ass in sales"...infact...Sega's considering dumping Visual Concepts because their games aren't selling well...

How can u be doing better if you dont have better sales? It's all about sales in the video game industry.

Perhaps he means NBA 2K3 is selling better than Live...which would be wrong considering Live 2003 is the number two selling game and NBA 2K3 is number thirteen...

Absolute realism does not sell, which is why no game does it, the majority of people want to fastbreak, crossover, bomb threes, dunk and block shots and use Iverson/Kobe/Shaq/Carter...calling plays, running them, working the ball around, taking jumpers, playing good defense isn't what the masses want to do...

i totally agree, the majority of people want an arcady dunk steal block and crossover fest. Thats why there is a option for Simulation/Arcade mode, it's supposed to mean something. EA obviously didn't make the arcade and simulation options in Live 2003 much different from each other. Hopefully this will get addressed, but unrealistic is what sells which leaves alot of us realism fans out, luckily we've got some great patchers working hard to make the game play all worth while.

madden is one of the best sport sims out there, and it gets better each year

nba live... well, it's a toss-up each year on whether or not it's going to be better.

2003 is better in some ways, a lot crappier in others. NBA 2k3.. what can I say.. the game is good (esp. from a simulation aspect) but there are so many bugs in the game, and the gamecube version is almost unplayable (returned mine - game kept crashing).. SEGA has no one to blame for their bad sales other than themselves (and VC).

Live is selling more because it is a game in which u can play your buds and run up the score in a bomb fest which is very fun and can be a basis of sh!t talking esp. when you have Flip Murray drop 106 points in a game against someone(hehe).

2K3 is a game in which it is more realistic, and not as fun even though I love the sim feel, that game is too real from a physics standpoint making the game a lot less fun.

Another thing..Live Commercials blow 2k3 ones out the water. I know of 2 2k3 commercials that aren't inspiring and show off GP, Who happens to be one of thier worst player models/cyberface in the game.

Live Commercials kick ass point blank and make u wanna hop off the couch and get the game. EA's advertising is much better than 2K3's which will attract newcomers to the series(Such as 12 yr. old who buys his first basketball videogame.), not to mention the freestyle control.
