even though I must favor nba 2k3 I have to comment that the live game is getting closer and closer to nba 2k series...
the main difference about those games is that nba2k (which is developed by sega) focuses on gameplay and graphics and the results show that the game is very realistic with good results and still keeps the graphic engine ok and the game turns out a best seller!
on nba live series each time ea sports set graphics to top priority and get gr8 graphics that come on expense of everything... gameplay, results and a lot more... also nba live comes for pc as well which means his standards cant be set too high (like they are now) so the everage man cant enjoy its full features, nba2k however is only developed for consoles which makes the developers job quite easier!.
if u take a look at some sites you can see their ratings on nba2k2 and figure it yourselves, ign.com rates it 9.3!!!

Now I've been trying to get an opinion of someone who plays with NBA2K3. You say Sega focused mostly on the gameplay. What does that mean? Does it mean the AI set up plays instead of trying to score a 3 pointer with 4 players blocking him? How about physics? Does the ball bounce right and do they have a good collision detection? Is the Franchise mode better or worse than the one NBA2003 has? How about commentary? I know it's based on ESPN broadcast, but in NHL2K3 the commentary sucks big time, i wonder if they messed it up in NBA2K3 too. That's all so far... I wonder if there's someone out there who actually played with NBA2K3, maybe only those people come here that like arcade basketball.

NBA2k3 is very gameplay focused! If you play franchise on there it is like a real NBA season. Sometimes bench players get hot and star for the night, not as many damn fastbreak 3's and invisible steals... It is hands down the better simulation. teams seem to play according to the style of players they have, San Antonio is low post, Dallas run and gun, Lakers anyway... They run plays, play defense etc etc... It really is better than Live. But Live's graphics are just a little better, and the freestyle control is sick! But now that they have the graphics down, next year they should be able to take on NBA 2k3, mostly by improving gameplay and adding more depth to franchise mode. And for the love of god add sliders please! That said, Live is still very fun... just not as realistic. Not NBA Street 5 on 5 like some say, but not a complete NBA simulator.

i havn't played 2k3.
but 2k, 2k1, and 2k2 i didn't like all that much

it was too easy against t he computer, even on the hardest level. it took me like 5 gamse, and then i could win everytime, and knew exactly which spots to shoot from...
unless i played against someone else, i couldn't enjoy the game.. it just wasn't fun

maybe 2k3 is better

I have played both and can tell you that I like what Nba2k3 brings to the table from a simulation standpoint. You simply can't overlook this game for what it does well. Having said that, Live2k3, especially with the inclusion of tweaks, DK's roster in particular, offers the same and even more. I want someone to point out what 2k3 offers that Live2k3 doesn't with the right roster tweak. I don't feel like rehashing Live's advantages, the link below points to opinions and responses from users of both Live2k3 and Nba2k3. I have the Xbox version as well, but the adjustments on the PC is even better. BTW, let me second what ilya has said, with or without slider adjustments, Nba2k3 unequivocally offers weaker cpu competition compared to Live2k3. This alone might be reason enough for some to look the other way. Till this day, on superstar mode I only win 40-50% of my games played, and I've had the game ever since it's release on the Xbox

ilya, mabe its because u dunk or layup, and dont take midrange jumpers...i have 2k3 and u can adjust the sliders, that means u can edit how the 3s are for home team and away, you can adjust the dunk ratings, if you want to layup more, its really amazing, and for the people who really care, they do have all the kicks. NBA 2K3 is much better!

EASports is always better than SEGA. EASports makes game each year sam as Sega. But EASports have different players to do the game each year, but Sega only focuses on Allen Iverson. For example, Live 2001, KG and 2003, Jason Kidd. All SEGA Series is Allen Iverson. And plus. If you guys like 2k3 so much, then why you guys bought Live 2003 instead of 2k3. Why is it called "NBA Live Series Center" and not "NBA 2Ks Series Center"? Anyone?

Are you retarded? You are comparing games by the guy on the box, What a great way to judge things!!! (sarcasm)

And we bought Live since they don't make 2K3 for the PC and I'm not spending $300 for a PS2/X-Box, I like Live but I would switch to 2K3 or Inside Drive (The guys at the OS forums say this has the best gameplay out of all 3) in a heart beat if I could.

yep I agree... its very very stupid to say : this game sux because allen iverson is on the cover... listen to yourself, what a lame comment. the truth is nba2k3 is indeed better as a simulation game and since I didn't try its street mode I cant compare it to live in its jam style, and the thing is no offense and with all the respect to ea sports which I'm sure try very hard to come out with a better live game each year.. they gotta put a little more focus on the small things and realism and not add stupid dunks and plays which people are sick of in 10-20 minutes, I like nba live 2003 I must admit it but if I had the choice of buying live2003 or nba2k3 for the pc I wouldent even hesitate b4 going to nba2k3 because for me its realism and gameplay, maybe some people here prefer showtime and arcade/simulation kind of game, but I prefer sim! so I'm sorry I cant buy a ps2 because of my financial condition right now but this is it...
