"Preformed an Illegal Operation"!!!??

My friend has NBA Live 2003 (BOUGHT VERSION, not burned cracked or any of that kind crap lol) He installed on his new Windows 98 and when he put in the CD, Jason Kidd(NBA Live) comes up and then an error message comes and says "This Program Has preformed an illegal operation" and then the game closes . What does that mean? He's tried it on another computer and it has woerked (AND that computer has basically the same hardware).

hmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Try Windows Update and install the new version of Directx too... if this not work, the problem is really with this version of Windows...
