Fantasy Draft Franchise

Postby GS/SC on Wed Dec 18, 2002 6:00 am

Hi everyone. I just started a franchise with a fantasy draft. I'm the Magic. I drafted:
Baron Davis-John Stockton-Brad Miller-Mike Miller-Eric Piatkowski-Jerome Williams-Jason Collins-Speedy Claxton-Manu Ginobili-Amare Stoudemire-Tony Massenburg-John Crotty.

Then I traded Baron Davis, John Crotty and Jerome Williams for Elton Brand and Ron Artest. I picked up Dan Dickau as a free agent.

My team now looks like this:
PG: Stockton-Claxton-Dickau
SG/SF: Piatkowski-Mike Miller (starting), Ginobili-Artest
PF: Brand-Stoudemire-Massenburg
C: Miller-Collins

I use Piatkowski, Miller, Ginobili and Artest as SG and SF's, so it depends on the match-up who I use. If I need defense, I bring in Artest, if I need offense, I bring in Ginobili, if I need shooting I bring in Miller, if I need shooting or passing I bring in Piatkowski.

I just played my first game (superstar, 12 min quarters, DK's latest roster patch) against the Spurs. It was a close game in which both teams got some leads, but the other team came back again. The Spurs won with 108-100 in a very realistic match, in which I went to the charity stripe 30 times, got 43 rebounds and shot 42% (which is pretty low, but I had a stretch in which my shot just didn't fall). The Spurs, with Bryant and Kenyon Martin, shot 48% and got 39 rebounds, but they did have 22 turnovers. I had 24 assists, and the Spurs 22. A game with very realistic stats.

But what do you think about my team? If anyone has any suggestions I would like to hear them.

You should get a good swingman SG, SG kinda guy that can do anything. Like T Mac, Kobe, Vince, Paul Pierce, KG, ect,.

I definitely improved my SG/SF position with the trade I just made. I traded Ron Artest and Tony Massenburg for Grant Hill. I signed Curtis Borchardt, who was a very good college player at Stanford.

I lost my second game against a great Timberwolves team. The score was 111-105. The T-Wolves starting line-up was unstoppable with Billups, Hamilton, Jalen Rose, Donyell Marshall and Ilgauskus. They could score whenever they felt like it. I came back every time their second unit came in, but between the tenth and fourth minute in the 4th quarter they pulled away. I missed 7 of my 19 free throws and turned the ball over 19 times, which were probably the reasons why I lost.

I can't wait to play a game with Hill in the line-up though. It seemed that Artest's ratings went up since I got him with that trade, which was the reason why I could get Hill.

Whats the point of playing a franchise with DK's rosters if you can only play it for one season?

That's true. Someone exlpained how to do it in the "general issues" section. But I'm going to play all 82 games (if I indeed play that much), so I probably won't have that problem. :)

First game with Grant Hill, first win. Hill got 28 points, and Mike Miller added 13 off the bench, to win against the Cavs in another close game. The Cavs were 4-0 going in to this game, but in a tough battle I was able to hold Ray Allen and his Cavs down. I believe the score was 112-105 or something, thanks to some fast breaks in the last minute after misses from the Cavs. Stock was the player of the game with 22 points and 14 assists. Again a game with very realistic team stats.
