how do you push???

Postby jefflim on Fri Dec 13, 2002 10:23 pm

in nba live 2001, there was a key that you could assign that allows you to push a player. does anybody know how to push someone in nba live 2003? and i don't mean play calling where you call intentional foul. i want to be able to do it myself.

what do you want to be able to push them for? other than to foul them? just use intentional foul man... if you wanted to knock the ball free then use steal... if you are trying to put pressure on them use the 'face up' button it is good.. they sometimes loose the ball from the pressure... but don't do it when they are in the tripple threat position or they will just blow past you.. the push button in NBA Live 2001 was stupid.. as if NBA players run around pushing each other.... unless their name is Rick Fox that is....

How do you call an intentional foul?
I probably lost a few games because I couldn't figure out how to foul them.

You can call intntional foul by holding button/key playcalling. But you can also do a foul if you are runing with turbo.

what do you want to be able to push them for?

In the old versions of Live, I used to use the "push" feature when I needed to vent out my anger, like when I missed an easy shot or when the other team stole the ball.
Since Live 2003 doesn't have the push feature, I have to be content with monster-blocking their ass

maybe to foul players that are on their way to an easy basket. calling intentional foul doesnt work THAT quick. it was a useful button.
BUT I DONT think it is in the game anymore.

it sucks that they don't have it in the game anymore. i did find it very useful. when my brother and i played, i would push him if he got passed me and was about to dunk. then he'd have to earn him points on the line.

yeah very useful to vent anger. Turn off all rules and start bitch slapping the cpu around. They never did score.

ic... so you want the feature so you can cheat against the CPU...

ok... so in the one on one situations where you have a faster player trying to score on you ... or you have a 2 on one situation what I do is just use the turbo and steal button... you will get the foul and may prevent them from scoring.. but you can also pretty easily set them up for the 3 point play... so that solves your problem... but I still don't see why the push button is needed.... except to cheat like the others want to... it was a silly button... :)

How is this cheating against his brother? He just said he used it to foul him in order to stop him from getting a fast break. If this is a cheat then pro players must cheat all the time...

Since when do "pro" players (besides Rick Fox) push other players to stop them for making a basket? For starters if they do they get a flagrant(intentional) foul... To stop a player getting a basket you may bump them or try to slap the ball... you don't push them... The push button was not realistic... the way you foul in NBA Live 2003 is alot more realistic... the game ain't street ball you know... you can't just go around pushing players... get over it...

I didnt say pushing AS physically as in live, but NBA players will often grab and hold a player (not violently) so as to get a foul called and stop a play before a fast break can get into motion. Since there is no "grab and hold" button the push button was the next closest thing. Don't tell me to get over it, its not the pushing in particular that the people are saying they miss, its the ability to foul when u want to. With the current system, it is very difficult to intentionally foul a player (not violently, just to please you), in that u have to run full speed at a player, and 8 times out of ten running full speed wiht shaq into muggsy bogues doesnt result in a foul call at all, but merely results in shaq makig brief contact and then running around him (or muggsy moving in the opposite direction at the last split second). Sorry, but it seems to me you misunderstood the point most of these people were making. The button is used mainly to foul if u have to, not jsut because its a violent act of hammering another player. this may not be the case fro all people, but for most it is, and in this way the button is definately missed. Sometimes in the last 10 seconds or the game if your team is down by 1 u dotn have many options but to intentionally foul IMMEDIATELY and force the other team to the foul line. I can't find an "intentional foul" play or button in live 2003, and even when there was one in past live games, it would take about 3 or 4 seconds before the teams AI players fouled, and by that time it's pretty much too late. It might not be the centre of the game, and it may only be a game, but still the lack of the feature can be quite annoying at times. I am however glad to see EA have pretty much completely removed the way a foul used to be called if a CPU player ran out while beign closely defended because it "assumed" the player was pusheed out, even if no contace was made. thats one big factor that annoyed me before. anyway i hope my point is made. I don't intend to offend with any statements, so if i have done so i apologise.

P.s.

quote from myself,
"How is this cheating against his brother? He just said he used it to foul him in order to stop him from getting a fast break. If this is a cheat then pro players must cheat all the time..."

emphasis on "used it to foul him in order to stop him". I said "foul" not "push". Please pay more attention before complaining.

I agree. You know DreamSpeaker I think you are the one who has to get over it. Don't make an insulting or degrading reply to a person unless you actually bother to properly read what they say. No offence but reading is a good skill, you should learn it.

Its nothing about cheating against the cpu for the sake of cheating retard. Its to vent anger when the CPU CHEATS against me. Reading comprehension is good.
