I've got all boxes on my shelf, ever since NBA Live 95, a game that really hooked me to b-ball on the PC, and even tuntil this summer, NBA Live 2001 had its regular space on my HD... 2003 was eagerly awaited.. and well.. in overall I find it okayish... but thats it.. here are my ups and downs.
Ups:
- Sweet graphics, moves and all... only the auidence bites.
- Music is kewl, although I'd love just a few more tracks
- Cut scenes crack me up.. even after 14 days...
- Awesome arcade game
- Fast breaks implemented.. woohoo (too bad they're exaggereated a bit)
Downs
- Play balance is wayyyy off, even with tweaked rosters. I can't be bothered mentioning all the things.. see below
- AI isn't AI, its IC (I cheat), just too many "steal and 3" situations to be real.
- Franchise point system... whats wrong with the real figures and money?
- Menus really bite the dust... i feel like walking through a 1995 webpage.. horrible navigation
Some of my balance experiences:
- Failed offense usually ends up in an amazing fast break by the other team, while my playes are taking a nap mid-court. This at any difficulty rating...
- Players still WALK straight out to an obvious out of bounds ball.. just like in NBA live 95...
- a player on my team having blocked less than 5 balls in a game is rare..
- Zounds of turn-overs.. I mean double figured steals isn't usual in any of my games.. no matter what difficulty. Its more like a hand-over
- Most block are k-mart style... not all play volleyball like he does, especially not guards like M-jax or Stock.
- I can out-rebound any team at any rating with Stock... erm.. wasn't that bug a 2001 problem too?

Guess that was just what I could recall at the moment.. I feel a bit cheated... really hurt... NBA live 2003 is just another proof that they wanna sell games on graphics, not contents..
