Waste of F-ing money. Venting....feel free to join me.

Thats all this game is. And any of you that feel differently you are just supporting the fact that EA can put out "trash" and peolple will buy it. The staff or group of people who helped create this game did not put a lot of thought behind it. I doubt they ever ask themselves what do the buyers want. Just take a look at how well Madden comes out each year. Its well designed, they always supply a patch, they even have implemented a feature which lets YOU edit various things in the game such as; Qb passing, blocking, running ability etc etc. How come this idea has not been brought the NBA LIVE forefront? This feature would ultimately eliminate the need for a TOOLKIT. Not that the tool kits are bad. I think their wonderful. But we are at a great loss by having to create what EA themselves could do.
If I could return this game I would. It a horrible display to the gaming world. I can only hope that in the near future someone adds completion to the bball gaming world. People, lets be honest, the last good basketball from EA was live 2000. We have all been suckered in to the propaganda that EA drives out each year when it comes to NBA LIVE. They ]EA] never deliver. Ask yourself are ypu really pleased with what EA has done with NBA Live 2003. I’ve seen what the other games such as Hockey, Baseball, and Football have to offer, And if you ask me WE the supporters of NBA LIVE have been hoodwinked.

Peace

You hit the nail right on the head Drizzle, This game is more like that 3 on 3 arcade game that came out a few years back, I can't think of the name,
but this game is very arcadish. I was playing a guy online and all he did was turbo down the court, freestyle a couple of times and dunk the ball !!
No calling plays, no setting up the offense. He basically was a one man team. (C-Webb had 44) The fg % is ungodly. Steals are still a major problem. When is EA gonna devote the time and effort to Live that they put in the other sports games (Madden, Fifa, etc...) Madden is the best sports sim ever. It's a shame too, because Ea is the only Bball game for the PC, Ea has no one to push them to create a better product. Every game I've played against a human opponent, seemed like the Kentucky
Derby. Live 2000 was the best live Ea has put out.

I couldn't agree with you more. Arcadish is the prefect term for this nightmare EA has created. You know what is really bad? The true fan of the game of basketball suffers from this more than anyone else. If you’re a sincere fan of hoops you should hate what is being done out in Redwood City California. They [EA] have taken a game this was great or at least average and completely destroyed it. It lacks all of the elements that made it good back in 2000. You nitwits who support this game have falling to the propaganda that EA dishes out to your faces each year. Claiming “if its in the game, its in the game,” that in itself is the BIGGEST bunch of horse crap I have heard. Please… Pistol good statement.

If you don't like it, don't buy it. You could've easily have waited and seen what people were saying. Get a roster tweak and D up.

The issue here is that the game should have been much better than this when it was released..why should the end-user have to go hunt around for good roster patches to a flawed game that obviously shouldn't have been released yet?..I paid money for the game..so I should at least get what is advertised on the box and by the company.."if it's in the game it's in the game" as thedrizzle said above IS a load of crap

On a side note..I agree as well that Nba live 2000 was the best of the series so far.........

Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:10 am

I couldn't disagree with you more.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:26 am

I like the game.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:34 am

there is a gripes section u kno..

Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:46 am

yeah this belongs in the gripes section. Anyway drizzt is not completely wrong but this game can still be enjoyable during the rare times this game plays like real basketball and not some bs arcade shooting 90% 3's crap. This game pisses me off sometimes

Mon Dec 09, 2002 7:10 am

gripe gripe gripe... we speak about more general things here. 8)
jk... but no really, these faults about live 2003 were well known before the game came out... yet users still buy the game and harp on how much of a waste money it was... ps2 live was in, what, October? the demo was released in late october/early november? how much did you think they were going to change LIVE from those dates... if that wasnt enuff warning, then...what is?

i dont think its that hard to make a roster to your liking and the fact you can change player looks in literally 2 minutes is sick! the game is fine to me, actually, quite addicting.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 7:54 am

The game is nice, I like it, if you think this game sucks, then don't buy it, and stop bitchin around about it like a woman.
What do you mean by "feel free to join you", I feel very very free to against you.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 8:44 am

Bottom line, if EA made a perfect game what would they release next year? What could they do to improve besides graphics and rosters if everything was perfect. Yeah they made mistakes, but no game is perfect. I believe EA's sections don't really work with each other. You don't see new faces and stuff for Madden because the guys who make Madden won't release their code. The guys at Live do, they give us a better experience by letting us create jerseys faces bands whatever you name it. The game isnt perfect, no game is. With a tweak though its enjoyable. Most people look at Live as a simulation style basketball, well I think this is what EA wanted the game to be like, they just didn't tell anyone they wanted it to be so arcady. Arcady sells period because non sports fans will pickup a game like Blitz, Hitz, Or any of those Midway games and play a fastpaced scoring fest. They're not looking for realistic stats. They're looking for entertainment, and thats what the non tweaked version of Live is, lots of blocks steals and lots of scoring.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 9:25 am

Bottom Line: the game is disappointing

Even as a fan of the series......if I had another choice of a so called basketball simulation for the pc ....I would choose the competition. The game needs alot more attention than is being given to it by the creators.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 10:17 am

If Ya dont like it take it back or sell it to someone...Dont bitch because you really aren't going in a positive direction thier and plus you have "watsed" your money.

I personally like the game.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 11:05 am

I agree im guilty of bitching a/b this game even though with enough tweaks and patches it IS enjoyable...i never expected this game to be perfect in the first place.
But..if EVERYBODY keeps saying how much they love this game and don't point out the many faults..this series will go in the wrong direction (even more so than it already has) and soon we'll have an even more "arcady" game than it already is.
I just wish EA would listen to the people that actually support this series such as the people on this board..and put into effect some MUCH needed changes to their gameplay...
If they wanted to make an arcade game...then boy did they succeed.
If it's a simulation they're aiming for..then they should smarten up and thank god that there's no competition for PC bball sims.
So to everybody that says "dont' buy it"..don't play it..whatever..I WANT TO PLAY this game..but by not voicing your complaints then you're just EA's lil bitch that agrees with everything they put out even when it's garbage..that is until it's tweaked by people like us that shouldn't even need to be tweaking SO many of the fundament aspects of this game..i don't mind a lil tweaking..but when you're overhauling all the ratings of every player...that should tell u right there that this game is severly flawed out of the box..i can't think of a game in recent memory that I've had to tweak so many aspects before I can get acceptable performance..it's a joke..will i still play it?..u betcha!..simply because i have no alternative in the PC market.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 12:12 pm

Maybe I'm just an insatiable gamer . However I really dont think sayin you dislike certain things about a flawed game is "bitching". The "take it back to the store thing" really doesnt apply or help many ppl. We wouldnt play the game if we didnt like it in some way or if we didnt feel like we needed to have it for some fun on the pc. I find fun in the game else I wouldnt play it at all. Fun with flaw is ok but any sensible person can tell you that flaws hamper the the fun factor to some degree. The only thing I maintain thats not in favor of the game is that it needs work.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 6:53 pm

the only reason i got NBA Live 2003 for PC was because NBA 2K3 for gamecube was a piece of sh#t. It was rushed and had a glitch that would crash the gamecube about once every 2-3 games. Horrible. Not to mention, no online play or roster updates. I was however, able to return it. I can't do that with NBA Live because it's a PC game and the store I bought it from doesn't accept returns on PC games. I bought Live because I knew this site would let me download updated rosters without having to work 3-4 hours a week updating stuff... and I bought it knowing it was a bit more "arcade-y" but wasn't prepared for what I experienced playing the game. If I wanted NBA Street, I'd fire up my gamecube. This game is ridiculous. Blocking a shot sends it out of bounds... on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT. The CPU fires up 3's with impunity and makes them with 3 players draped all over him... While freestyle is an innovative concept, I'd much rather do without it and have the game a TAD more realistic. Anyways, I hope the roster patches make the game more playable.

I REALLY hope EA comes out with a patch to fix this awful game. I've had every NBA Live PC game, ever since the first one back in 95 (?) and I'd have to say this game is a step backwards from Live 2001.

Mon Dec 09, 2002 8:20 pm

i like the nba live at times, but after four years of the end of game supernatural powers, gets on the nerves......but yeah i like it, it is fun, i mean u watch real basketball, it isn;t just a half court game all the time, look at Dallas, they soemtimes go nuts and jsut start doing anything, and they r good......the blocks are a bit ridiculous, but hey, at least they have fixed offensive rebounding!

Mon Dec 09, 2002 9:04 pm

>but after four years of the end of game supernatural powers, gets on the nerves......<

It's called crunch time baby. I bet you dollars to doughnuts that all you are seeing is the CPU switch to the press with high pressure. I run that "D" te whole game so when the CPU runs it, I know exactly where to go to hit the holes in the "D". BTW, the best "O" to run is Motion. It has your center anf PF post low while the others cut, vey effective. Have fun.
