Menus run really slow

My menus are running pretty slow and it is very annoying. The actual game runs fairly smooth but when browsing through menus, it is somewhat choppy. Any thing I can do for this?

what video card to you have?

i had a gf2mx 32mb in my machine and had the exact same problem (menus bad - gameplay good). Now i'm running a gf4mx 64mb and the menus are fine. So it seems that my old vid card just didn't have grunt to handle the game's frontend ... strangely enough.

I have an old one too, 32mb ati rage pro i believe. Wish there was some way to turn those backgrounds off.
