I then formated my harddrive and reinstalled live again but i got the same thing. Anyone can help pleaseeeeeeee?
My specs:
Win XP
128 MB ram
NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 32 MB
48X CD ROM
Please helppppp. Thanks heaps

Error Starting Live 2003...
hot-pot wrote:My two cents:
If the game won't start (ie nothing seems to happen, or you get a brief black screen but immediately get dumped back to your desktop) the most likely culprit is your PC's video card situation.
Make sure your video card is supported by NBA Live 2003
Make sure you have drivers which fully/properly support Direct3D
Last but not least, make sure you have MS DirectX 8.1 installed
How can you find out if your drivers support Direct3D?
As long as you have MS DirectX 8.1 installed, you have the "DirectX Diagnostic Tool" at your disposal. Launch the diagnostic tool by: [Start] - Run - Type "dxdiag" (without the quotes) and click [OK]. On the "Display" page, you'll see the "DirectX Features" box - make sure that "Direct3D Acceleration" shows as "Enabled". If it doesn't, you either have a video card that isn't supported by NBA Live 2003, or you have a valid card which happens to be using old/crappy drivers. Update your video card drivers, re-install MS DirectX 8.1 and you should be all set.
If you can't even install the game (auturun.exe/setup.exe won't run) then you most likely have issues beyond just the scope of "installing NBA Live 2003"... Windows ME perhaps?
Double check that you have MS DirectX 8.1 installed and that your drivers support Direct3D. The newest nVidia drivers for your card as of today are the
XP v40.72 drivers. I know for a fact that the v40.72 drivers for Windows 2000 have minor issues with certain games, so if you experience anything odd with the XP drivers, you may want to also take a try at the
XP v30.82 drivers.

THanks hot-pot but no luck still
I've just downloaded both of the drivers, tried the newest one first but the same thing happened.
Then I installed the older driver, and I was then given a black screen after seeing Jason Kidd (slightly different to what happened with before).
I just checked my DXDIAG and it says my direct3D acceleration is not available. But I thought EA specifically said it supports my TNT2 RIVA card. So does that mean I'm still using the wrong driver?
THanks a million guys!

You did not even get a error???? If so, it is either your hardware problem, or your CD(because I burned two NBA CD for my friends(Can't post how to burn, that against the rule), first one works great, the second one just had the same problem like you did).

I had the same problem...excpet i got an error. Try turning off any anti-virus programs you have running on your com. That's what i did and it worked fine after that...Actually i still get the problem but then i just double click the NBA Live 03 icon again and it works the second time.
p.s. this is my 200th post!

My CD is an original I bought from GBoutique a few days ago, so shouldn't be a CD problem.
I also haven't got any antivirus software installed on my computer, so thats not a problem either. Anything else you guys can think of??

i recommend u to back the cd and take the new one

I'm pretty sure its not a CD problem.
What I'm worrying is that DXDIAG says direct3D is not available. Does anyone know if my video card (32MB TNT2 M64 3D 4X AGP) supports direct3D? It worked with NBA LIVE 2001 and I remember Live 2001 required a 4MB direct3D card.
So do I have to manually switch direct3D on or something? IF so, can anyone tell me how? Thanksssss

Please help me guysss.... I've written millions of emails to EA and they kept replying with pre-prepared answers that hardly answered my question. It has been over a week I tried to make Live work

Try re-installing your video card...if you can find the installation disk. If DxDiag tells you that Direct3D is disabled or unavailable then I suppose you have a general vc-issue, not a problem which only relates to Live2003...?
