I played two games using the offensive plays. I was Boston playing Seattle both times, one home, one away and used the 2 set offenses for Seattle during the game. I kept mine dynamic, cause I do my own motions and what not. Here's the first game at Bostn, then the next in Seattle.

I played 8-mins. All Star Arcade. I do some changes to defensive matchups with the pressure and double teams. Seattle's shots went to the right people during the games, Payton, Lewis, Mason...Sometimes it wouold get repetitive as they'd keep running the same thing over and over, but not too bad...For some reason they don't shoot any 3s...unheard of. Blocks come too easily for me...and I rarely get blocked. I like the steals, under 10 for both teams is what I want to see, and don't mind a 11-6 ratio either. I just hate the 16-15 one's. I dunno what else to say right now...I guess I'll play again later, probaly play 9-mins to get better scores, and play another team with different plays.

Hi Dk and everybody. Congratulation for your last roster patch. I'm playing with it and the game is a lot real (i've only modified the jump shot +5 to all players).
Do you now how to change the players defense in the low post ? Sure you've seen that is easy score in the low post because much times the players makes and automatic moviment to the baske. Do you underestand what i mean? How can we reduce this automatic moviment or improve the defense in the low post to stop it?
Thank you dk and all of you making this game near real live.

Xavi, do you mean a way to improve defense for the human user or for the cpu in the low-post? If you feel it's easy to score downlow against the cpu, you have to make some adjustments to the Teams.dbf file within your Live saves folder. These adjustments improve the zone defense employed by the cpu and allows for quicker and more frequent help in the low-post like most teams do in the Nba. This has improved the low-post defense 70% IMO. I can send you a copy of my adjustments via email if you'd like. BTW, I'm using DK's newest roster. Let me know.
Sat Feb 08, 2003 6:52 am
Yes, i mean the cpu defense; which values on teams.dbf have i to change to improve this defense ?
Sat Feb 08, 2003 1:38 pm
Try this. Since you have the requisite tool, force all teams defense to 1. Then, set ZONEUSE to 99 for all teams. Let me know if you see an improvement.
Sun Feb 09, 2003 3:00 am
To make this possible i need db commander 2000 full version, no trial version because with this you can't execute sql sentences. I'm using nba 2001 toolkit but in teams.dbf i can't found zonuse value and i have to change values team by team.
Sun Feb 09, 2003 7:39 am
Ok, I don't have this problem. So, what do you propose?
Sun Feb 09, 2003 6:55 pm
Okay first of all I admire you DK and all the others in putting in a lot of effort to fix this game. Ive tried the latest rosters and yes its made the game better, but there are still faults, now its nearly half way through february and ya all still going on and on about trying to fix this, now I ahve nothing against this but why not just forget about it now, I mean I dont see the point in continuing to improve this game when in 8-9 months time NBA Live 2004 will be out which will have fixed these problems and all the hard work you've put into 203 will be wasted cause you wont be touching the game again.
For now play it like it is or just play 2k3
THanx Dk for making this game a better game

I don't know what delusional world you live in but I do not expect EA to change anything at all. The only thing they will do is add more freestyle moves and maybe some new dunks for 2004.
Mon Feb 10, 2003 7:15 pm
I think you're right DK, but don't hope so.

"... I mean I dont see the point in continuing to improve this game when in 8-9 months time NBA Live 2004 will be out which will have fixed these problems" - Sanityy
LOL!!!

You think tweakers and patchers do their thing out of sheer hobby? They do what do they do because of the numeour times they got burned by EA Sports for releasing half-$&@ versions of what it should be. Few steps foward here, few steps backward there. Why? So people like you will buy the next version. Most franchise games are like that especially the NBA Live series since they have monopoly over the PC domain.
Don't get me wrong I love this game, but to think that the next version would be the
perfect one is just plain naive.

Only in a perfect world...
Fri Feb 14, 2003 3:03 am
haha your assuming live 2004 wont be improved? ya dont know that until its out.
and god your trying to make this game as realistic as possible, i admire that but i think it would jus be easier to purchase nba 2k3 which is the best in capturing the realism of the nba.

Why? -- yes ea sports is disapointing and never deliver in what it should b, BUT NBA 2k3 delivers th realism perfectly so I aitn complaining..
So people like you will buy the next version - buy? I dont buy games, im not stupid. This is the internet and your a stupid fool not to use it to your advantage
Sat Feb 15, 2003 1:47 am
I guess you're not the only one...
Sun Feb 16, 2003 3:06 am
there's only one reason why were playing, patching, editing, cursing, loving modding and hating it:
for the love of the game.

ive noticed you guys want a realistic basketball game, now out of the box this game is horrid if your into sim, arcade - then its awesome ! ! . EA have purposely made it like this and they will never make a true sim because arcade type sells a lot more then simulation....
Back to my point, you guys are playing the wrong game if you want a sim, even with DK's roster patch, which makes the game better, it doesn't even throw a punch at NBA 2k3
NBA 2k3 is the most realistic game of basketball and I find it ammusing seeing people play nba live 2003 and complaining about bleh ' i want a realistic game', thats what NBA 2k3 is there for
And those of you who don't ahve consoles then fair enough, can't believe how stupid sega is in not releasing it for PC
But for the console users who want realism, you must be on CRACK not to have heard of NBA 2k3

Great effort on the rosters DK, I have been playing the last NLSC tweaked roster ( allstar, user control and removing the dynamic offense strategy of the cpu) and i just wanted to share some things. The only player i have seen taking regular mid range jump shoots is Nowitzki but he missed all, something like 0/8 (he had points from down the basket), sometimes i played defense on him and sometimes not. maybe increasing the jumpshoot a bit and changing the area of a lot of players that are a 7 to 1 will change the shot chart.
I also find terrible hard to make points under the basket with user control, i found the releasing time of the button for 3points but for the rest shoots, if aren't dunks or layups, I'll miss a lot of them.

I'd say you must be in marketing or work for the makers of NBA 2k3, but you said you supported warez, so there goes that theory.
Most of us play this because (a) we like it, or

we aren't so privelaged to have consoles. We must be too busy legally purchasing software with our money.

DK realease something new. It's been a month without anything.
Thu Feb 27, 2003 3:10 pm
I'd just like to say that I gave up on Live 03 a few weeks ago and I haven't looked back. You guys will have to get your rosters from somewhere else, sorry but 03 is just a crappy game.
Hopefully 04 is a decent bball game.
Thu Feb 27, 2003 6:56 pm
DK, can I at least get your coefficients then?
I've been playing NLSC's rosters with your coefficients and started a fantasy/franchise mode. I don't want to ruin my league with messed-up rookie ratings when the time comes.
I'm going to 'take out' your formula once the season ends and re-apply your formula when the 2nd (3rd, 4th, and so forth...) season starts again.
Also, I would like to request how exactly were you able to apply them. That way, I would know how to reverse the process.
Thank you very much. Your work has done much wonders to NBA Live 2003 already.

The DK coefficients don't work for me. I use 6 Minutes, fouls maximum, acarde, superstar, so my teams would score 150 points/game....
You suggest you change the "defensive awareness" an the "offensive awareness" coefficients to get realistic scores..... fg, 3pt, etc. do not really change the scores.... Try that! Just create two team of really bad players with normal oa and da ratings... they would score a lot of points against each other until you change the da and the oa ratings because those coefficients determine how much a player scores over 48 minutes and how much his opponent scores. [/quote]
Sat Mar 15, 2003 9:55 pm
i think you should revert the fg settings back to the 65-72 range coz i get too many easy shots goin in in the game..speed and the rebounding is ok though (i'll try to post my stats the next time using the latest coeficients).. i play superstar but still i shoot over 50% in most of my games and yes the ai still makes those ridiculous shots.
