If computer assistance is on, it will keep score very close. Turn this off and then the problem of catch up mode is fixed.
it's a problem within the physics of the game, no remedy for that. Its the same as player's body parts going through each other.

This is also a case when the computer assistance is on. Try turning it off, what's happening is that say you lead by 12 pts or trail by 15 pts, the computer ai will either make a run with your opponent or with your team to make the game close. To put a stop to this, call a timeout and tweak your defensive matchups.
(Note: If computer assistance is turned off, you've got to be real good 'coz the computer won't care if you lead by 10 or the computer leads by 25 esp in all-star and superstar mode)
Roster tweak patch are scattered all over. If I were you I'd look for a tweaked patch that only modified steals, fg%, 3pt%, inside scoring 'coz lowering the speed and quickness make doing crossovers and spins by pg look so slow and stupid.
