are you sure?....i play 9-min games but i get no sub..
i've played with 4 different teams and i get no sub anyway...
ok...i'll wait your good work...MERRY XMAS!!!!!!!!!

Don't know what's happening on your end partner, but I play 7min qtrs and my subs work just fine. FYI guys, this patch is best utilized while playing on Superstar. Let me know if you can fastbreak all day at this level. Prove me wrong. Along with 8-9min qtrs, and arcade mode, superstar mode should be another recommendation to get the best results with this patch.
DK, I gotta tell you, the more I use your patch, the more impressed I am with the end results. One has to play with caution and refrain from making rash decisions in order to be successful. The post game might need tightning up with possible alterations to strength ratings, but what we have right now is manageable and better than anything out there right now.
Stats are also true to life. Good stuff.
Sample stats: Superstar, 7min, Arcade-all rules on.

Once I switched camera mode to zoom off, middle setting, I was able to contain a majority of cpu fastbreaks, especially after using last man back button. This view game a wider court perspective. We're very close. We should continue to tweak in a few areas, but we've come a long way.
BTW, I played as the Rockets. on a side note, Jason Kidd always takes a high amount of shots and usually makes a good %. He has averaged almost 30pts ppg each time 1 play NJ.

Your rosters are a dream come true. I hate "arcade" style sports games. I like to strive for realism and you have done that. Great Work DK

Hey DK, thanks for the great tweaks you provided us. But I have a question. When I played Dallas with your roster I realised that Finley was suddenly the best 3pt shooter on the team. His 3pt rating actually improved from 82 to 86, while Nash dropped from 91 to 84. How does that happen? It's weird to see Finley running around with a 3pt icon, while a guy like Nash isn't.

Al the last 3pt update (a couple weeks ago) Finely met the criteria requred for a 3PT "Icon" as posted earlier. And an 84 for Nash is one away from the icon and gets enough 3s by itself.

can you improve off rebounds ? There no chance to gett a off. rebound.

If you are not getting enough just jump yourself and you will get enough. If you feel the CPU is not getting enough turn off your "Box Out" and this will give them aboiut 5 a game. If I increase the ratings the user would dominate.

I played a Lakers vs Celtics(me) game twice with SS 9 min and CPU shot control, I lost the 1st by 10 when the expanded a 3pt lead late in the 4th to close 91-81.
The second game I won 120-121 in OT. I fouled out 3 Lakers (O'Neal, Madsen, Fox).
Thw experience was much more intense and the only thing I have to do is wait and focus on my FTs.

What a game,(SS, 9 min, CPU Shot) I lost again to the NETS

It would have been very close if I had hit my FTs, but that's ok I'm getting my feeling and in a few games I will be hitting 70%.
But get this
Pierce had a NBA record setting amount of FT attempted (43) and he fouled out 2 men and himself fouled out with 46 Points (only hit 22 FT

). NJ had to use Scalabrini and Rogers at SG, who then got abused by Pierce and his superiority.
I didn't hit a 3 but mostly since I was going to the bucked and only took late 4th quarter desparation 3s.
It seems on SS FTs are a lot easier to get and the CPU will not just give you anything.
The only downside is that the CPU is very hard to defend 1-on-1 with a PG/SG/SF
Thu Dec 26, 2002 6:34 am

I see you're finally coming around. You're right, ss level is really where you get your blood flowing. The cpu is as competitive as ever and will come at you from all known angles in order to pull off a win. Having said that, it's also possible to win as long as you play your cards right.
Let me guess, Kidd took you apart and was the leading scorer for the Nets right? They are a very tough team to beat in this game. You slow down Kmart, Jefferson, etc and Kidd eats you for lunch. What does that remind you off?
The only downside is that the CPU is very hard to defend 1-on-1 with a PG/SG/SF
I know the feeling bud, however it's worth it when you're successful. I employ zone D in my games so I get plenty help, and rotate my players around to gain a favorable position to deter or block an incoming pg, sg, or sf's drive through the lane. Takes some practice but works out nicely when done right.
I've also observed that keeping the cpu in the neighborhood below .500 in the early phases of the game, causes them to struggle more as the game progresses. In other words, I've found that they're more likely to miss those spontaneous 3's etc, and some other open looks, thus giving you a better chance at containing them down the stretch.
If you are still playing on all-star and want a real challenge, don't hesitate to step up to superstar, you won't be sorry. IMO, this game is a different beast at this level of play.
My game against NJ. SS, 7min, Arcade-all rules, cpu control.

I sould mention that my above games were played with a new possible tweak. Everyone's STRENGTH the game was 90-99. This made the inside much tougher and posting up is still possible but now guys didn't just give in and break they stood their ground.
Thu Dec 26, 2002 9:00 am

Wow, what a coincidence. I'm currently experimenting with select teams, increasing the strength ratings and analyzing the results. At first I tried goind the other way, but I didn't like the outcome. Looking ok so far.
BTW, why on earth did you increase dribbling ratings

? I can see this happening for select players, but not the whole league. I say this because certain players don't need to be performing crossovers and such as they do in real life. There's something unatural about playing against the cpu and seeing Christian Laetner attack the basket with a few crossovers. What was the reason for this adjustment may I ask? Please look into this. Thanks.
Thu Dec 26, 2002 11:29 pm
I noticed that too: I played Orlando (me) vs Toronto, and Voshon Lenard dribbled all the way to the basket, even better than T-Mac!
Fri Dec 27, 2002 12:49 am
yah i noticed that too... i think the 12162002 dk patch is much better than the latest DK patch...
Fri Dec 27, 2002 1:28 am
The dribble was increased by *1.05 This iv VERY minor as most guys went up 1-2 points. I did this so a few less guys would lose the ball when moving out of triple threat.
And when a slow guy tries to do the fancy stuff on you, it is a great opportunity to take a charge as you can beat him to the spot.

I finally got those bastards

Entire Game Boston New Jersey

And my FT are getting better too (I can hit at least 70% with anyone BUT Pierce, Who goes like 6-14 every game)
I was down by 13 late in the 2nd quarter, then something just happened and I started to dominate. In the 2nd half the Nets played a ful cour press which led to some easy buckets.
Kidd still managed to hit 5 3s in the 4th but I blocked him another 5 times.
Fri Dec 27, 2002 8:11 am
Now that's some serious dismantling of a team such as NJ. Seems like you're doing very well and have made a nice transition to Superstar mode. From what I can tell, your rebounding gave you the edge, especially on the offensive end. The disparity in free throws in your favor seemed to be another factor. Yeah, kidd will pull a fast one on you if you're not careful. I like the challenge this game provides, unlike the previous years where I could win with eye closed. Boston also has some nice firepower and I barely lost against them last night.
What have you arrived at in concern with low post scoring? To be honest with you, it's really ok the way it is right now but could always be better...
Fri Dec 27, 2002 9:15 am
I had a Double OT win against the Pistons (but I forgot to save the stats

)
I won 134-130. I tied the game on 2 Walker FTs with 5 sec left in regulation. I lost Pierce in the 1st OT and still managed to keep up. Then in the 2nd OT Hamilton, Wallace, Billups and Rebraca all foul out and I am able to pull away, but Billups sill dropped 46 on me.
BTW The low scoring with my strength adjustment seems harder now as you have to wait before a guy breaks and the CPU can't just walk over you.

It's not about the icon in the first place. Nash is a .420 3pt% shooter for his career, while finley is at .360. We all want a realistic game and I just think the ratings should reflect such facts.

Since SuperStar(SS) can be hard to newcommers I thought I'd post some tips.
Offense
When shooting FTs let the ball go back and forth twice, if you try to stop it right away you will always miss (after about 6 games I am hitting 70% and SS feels like all star right now.
Get the ball to your best player on the wing, call for a pick and spin towads the basket and go up for a shot. This is a good way to get to the line (I managed to shoot 43 FTs once with P.Pierce this way but still lost)
Spontaneous 3s are a no-no. If you want to take a 3 set it up by screening or working the post up and kick out game unless you want to go 3-30 from 3pt land.
Freestyle in a big crowd is a great way to get the ball stolen from you.
Passing across the court is also a great way to lose posession.
When the double comes get rid of the ball FAST or you will lose it.
If the CPU is pissing you off DO NOT take hasty shots or you will be down by 15 before you know it, this happens to me all the time and it is a tough hole to climb out of.
Defense
On SS the CPU does nothing for you so you have to jump block and steal yourself
Stay on the PG unless you want a 3 dropped on you.
If the ball is kicked to the corner, get in there fast because the CPU likes to take this 3 and make it 80% of the time.
When the CPU PG steps up and pumpfakes a 3 is coming that seems to always go in so block that.
When the CPU post up, bring your PG/SG/SF (closest one) and manually try to steal the ball.
When the CPU gets position inside and is ready to shoot get ready to block unless it's a fadaway which the CPU always makes deep inside.
After you commit a foul and are controlling the PG switch fast otherwise the CPU PG will get an easy layup.
When the CPU PG calls for a screen jump it with the other player unless you want a 3 dropped on you.
When going 1 on 1 the CPU likes to use the fancy dribbles so sometimes you can get a charge on the hesitation moves if you move quickly.
If the CPU has a breakaway dunk turbo into its back to try to knock him down.

Hey DK nice work. How long does it take to teak a roster? If you wanted to, say, tweak only speed, quickness and offensive rebounds how long does it take? Is it a huge job or is just a few mins using your special program?

I use the NBA Live toolkit which is fast and easy to use.

Caused a lot of turnovers because of losing concentration pressind wrong direct pass buttons. Game was very close but in the last 3 minutes i was able to pull away because of full court press by the Nets and some very easy Points. One thing i´ll have to learn is making Freethrows, horrible percentage. Probably i´ll tweak FT Ratings by myself, because this way it´s a bit of a lottery!
Thank for your great work all the way from Germany, DK!

They started out hot but cooled off as we wnt into halftime 36-36. In the 3rd I was able to get a 7 point lead as Stackhouse was out. But in the 4th they started torching me as they began 9-11 fro mthe field. They have a 1 pt lead with 16 sec left. Pierce goes to the line MISSES the 1st but rattles in the 2nd, 76-76. They go down the court but MJ chokes misses a layup. I get the ball Time out 1.6 sec left. Time out, Delk is the only one that is standing in a open position, I inbound and take the 3, Huges jumps but misses and Delk gets nothin but net as time expires.
(BTW The celebration was pretty cool for the game winner and lasted longer than the normal celebrations)

Watch out, Boston's ripping through a town near you!!. Seems like you've been winning all your games, albeit nailbitters. My games are very similar in outcome.
One observation I've made recently has to do with all the missed layups and blown dunks certain people have complained about. It seems like there's a relation to framerate here. Yesterday, I decided to make some adjustments to my video card settings and switched to 1024*768 mode for testing. Sure enough, the gameplay turned out to be ALOT smoother and this translated to a reduction in blown dunks and layups, matter of fact I don't recall any during this timespan. So, my deduction is that a good framerate needs to be maintained in order to avoid running into these issues. This might also explain why some experience the "blown dunk" syndrome while other don't. If you experience these problems, for testing purposes I suggest that you reduce your graphic settings or resolution and analyze the results, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the outcome.

DK...if I sent u a roster, could u tweak it for me and send it back to me? I'm having difficulty with the toolkit....dont know how to use it yet but need a couple of minor edits to one of my rosters.
Sun Dec 29, 2002 1:04 am
Hi DK!
Do you think, its possible to play a franchise with your roster (and above all reach realistic stats)?
