i know about the customart 1.. im not that dumb hawk.. once i installed everything from the program i loaded up i think the 1991-92 season or something like that (where LJ is a 1yr pro and ZO is a rookie) when i went to play now the opening player was a black headless karl malone.. i have so many faces patches in my xplayer folder what i ended up doing is keeping the greats i wanted and RE-INSTALLING my live once again.. this in turn made me lose all of my college rosters and the mod in total was done.. i will however try your patch one more time, this time installing it on a copy of my live folder.. i'll let u know what happens then..

do you have a complete list of the players and the cyberface package they're using? i think that will help us all with this problem..

well i carefully checked the base roster 91-92 and the gfx for the face file for Karl malone for example.

in the base roster 791 (and-or 792) Karl Malone is set to KAMALONE which should be in your game. so if you didn't run the Upgrade faces function
"Install->UserAddons->Upgrade Faces"

then your main KAMALONE face that comes standard in the game is missing or corrupted by some other patch.

if you did run the Upgrade Faces for the time sensitve faces (KMALONE with some hair), then check in your render\xplayer folder for:
KMALONE\KMALONE.FSH

if it is not there, then the upgrade face function didn't copy the fsh file there correctly.

if it is there, then it must be as hawk23 said, your custom art is not set to true.

an alternate way to do set that is to use the MegaInstaller's NBA Configure Dialog like this:
Image

in that dialog just set Custom Art = Enable and hit ok, and then it will be set. (incidently, there are many undocumented functions you can also set in there also (like turning off movies, etc), but be careful as i am not surewhat they all do there)

so, for that example of kmalone (only) that should defintely work there.
it has to ... because it is just pure logic.

but for others players , there may be missing faces due to typos that can be easily fixed with small updates later on, so let us try to keep alist of them!

thanks and peace!

hmmm :| makes sence so far...

hey i downloaded all the main files and some are .pak.2?? how do i open them?

and NBA2kStuff's MegaInstaller is it an actual program or a name to the whole thing?

Sun Jul 27, 2003 2:58 pm

--- MegaInstaller is: ---

a) the MegaInstaller is the program that does the actual dynamic patching and configuration as well as installing the main graphics and data into the nba 2003 game.

b)you can also use the MegaInstaller to tweek the game rosters data, and many graphics options (like to switch the TV logos and music from 70s to 80s to 90s, etc).
Image

c) there is the mega ratings adjuster available in teh MegaInstaller, as well, to slow down all the rosters or bump up rebounds, etc.

Image

d) Also, inspired by Andrew Bagley's superlative tutorials and methodolgies he created, we implemeted in the MegaInstaller, his Roster Formula Tweeking techniques that allow a statistical formulas to be designed and applied by rosters experts to allow for more accurate simulation through the use of coefficients and ratings formulas! (super work Andrew on these pioneering studies you and DK did!)

see here:

so something there for everyone in the MegaInstaller to help with the work we hope!

--- donwloading ---
also, it is setup for 2 ways to download:

1) if you have a 56k connection it uhought it would be easier to download the split file sized patches.
those are (for example):
Historic_setup.pak.exe (3Meg)
Historic_setup.pak.2 (3Meg)
Historic_setup.pak.3 (3Meg)
Historic_setup.pak.4 (3Meg)

so all you need to do is just run the Historic_setup.pak.exe (for example) and it will automatically extract this multivolume archive type EXE file and do the initial installation.

2) the alternate is to donwlaod the big file Historic_setup.exe (12Meg), and run that to do the same installation.

i thought the smaller sizes would be easier for the slow modem connection users, but you can download either way you prefer.

* note: you only need to get it one way or the other, not both! (either the pak.exe, pak.2,pak.3,etc way, or the main.exe larger file)

also you can refer to this:
http://nba2kstuff.nba-live.net/nba/howto/full_install_hawk23.html

and you can ask more questions if you have difficulties here:
http://nba2kstuff.nba-live.net/phpbb/index.php

and we will try to help there.
peace!

That's actually Andrew Begley. But I can't take credit for the tweaked rosters, DK did all the research and gave me permission to use his coefficients, so all credit for the tweaks must go to him.

Oh......I got Travis Lee's Fox Sports Overlay  and i found some great jerseys in there followed by some hilarious JERSEYS like the Old hawks one....with the poor looks  i have a screenshot of it but it looks to terrible to post  but if this thing is made for Live 04 (which might since no Classic Teams are in Live 04) then....leave out the horrible jersey

Sun Jul 27, 2003 7:41 pm

NBA Live 2004 won't have classic teams, but it will feature retro jerseys.

Sun Jul 27, 2003 8:28 pm

For everyone having any problems with the nba2kstuff legends rosters and installation, simply e-mail him. He will work with you to get any problems resolved.

I'd like to thank Mr. Daily for an outstanding effort and collaberation of talents. There are hundreds of different jerseys and historic NBA player faces to use in his patch. It was/is a true pleasure to contribute to the project and hope it can provide the younger fans of the NBA some history...

If anyone has a classic jersey request, send me an e-mail or check the patches because the odds are that it's in there!

I'm a YOUNG NBA FAN and i think Don Daily did a good job of teaching me some history (better than school  )

Tue Jul 29, 2003 9:21 am

Wow........i'm was playing with the rosters from NBA Jam if you don't know what rosters are the good ones i'll help you

92-93 is the roster with the 1993 Suns NBA Finals team
93-94 is the rosters for the original NBA Jam
94-95 is the rosters for NBA Jam T.E.
i'm telling you guys this becuase you guys might think 93-94 is the 93 Suns roster thing but it ain't cause i have noticed Don has rosters from the END of the years cause if you go to 96-97 Roster Robert Horry is already on L.A. oh and 2 more things one is i like how Magic Johnson is PF for the Lakers in the 95-96 Season I thought he wouldn't nail it but he did  and second....I NEVER KNEW DOUG CHRISTIE PLAYED FOR THE LAKERS

Tue Jul 29, 2003 9:21 am

Not trying to cause any stir... Bu this is the patch of the year IMHO.

Congratulations to Don Daily and everyone who took a part in this.

Tue Jul 29, 2003 9:29 am

Wait.....Do the courts change for certain years like for Sacramento? cause earlier i played in 93-94 and it was OLD SKEWL then i plaed 94-95 and it was current so uh maybe they do change?
