NCAA on '03

Postby UK_FAN on Thu Jan 30, 2003 10:36 am

OK I've been getting a few emails about whats up and is this a reality or not. YES and I'm very happy with its progress. Now that I have mastered the graphic files and created some templates I off and rolling. It takes me about a week to complete at team. Players look simular to how they do in real life, gear, most tatoos, Ratings, Bio, Home court graphics, Menu and in game graphics will be all included.

The games I play with the finished feel good. I'll eventually post some stats.

I created a quick web page to post some screen shots. This web site was thrown together, I clean it up later.

Code: Select all
what tools did you use to import court graphics?

Vivmagic to decompress the VIV files then the new fshtool to decompress whats left. Then do the reverse to put back. Compress with new fshtool then repack with vivmagic.

The graphic files are a bit of a pain as you have 2 files for almost every graphic, then as many as 12 actual graphics for one graphic such as the center court logo. The actual graphic file then a Transparency that has to match. It took trial and error to learn how.

NICE!

Yeah, think there's any way to get a team to work onthis together? I'd love to help, though I probably won't be of too much use, though I'd be willing to do whatever I could to develop the rosters.

ALABAMA, MISSISSPPI STATE, and AUBURN are done except a few court graphics. This only leaves two SEC teams to be done.
Starting ACC teams feb 8th (N. Carolina is done.)

HELP with the following team ACC, BIG EAST, AT LARGE
1. I'll put some templates on the NCAA site just download them, make the changes and re-upload back. You will be able to edit these in most graphics programs. I'll put them in the game VIV files, so if you can use a paint or graphics program that will save me time and I'm sure we'll get better stuff.
2. HOME and Away team jerseys.
3. Chair back graphics.
4. Teams logos at least 512 by 512 pixels.

How it works:
1. No it does not overwrite the NBA teams. NCAA will just save in another SAVES slot. There will be no NBA teams in NCAA though.
2. Yes graphics will be available for both NBA and NCAA but not at the same time. There will be a seperate file that you run before you PLAY NBA LIVE 2003 that will ask NCAA? or NBA? The one you choose will be the graphics that will appear in the game. They will stay there until you quit NBA LIVE 2003 and re-run the seperate program to make a different selection.

Can't wait for this patch to come out! One question.....where is the ncaa site that you mentioned in one of your earlier posts?

bump for thread with most promising info yet :) :) :)

At this point, I'd be happy with just accurate rosters and aproximate jersey colors to match. Real jerseys and courts make it that much better.

Are you using the NCAA patches for 99 and 2000 as a reference? They might help...

I haven't seen the NCAA 2000 but I did download the '99 live ncaa and things have changed so much I'm doing this from the ground up. Like the center court graphics were 128 X 128 they are now 512 x 512 and once you enlarge a graphic that much it shows.

And YES,
Accurate rosters, ratings, and simular looks.
I'm editing shooting range, scoring area, dunking and all other ratings for each player.
Jerseys Home and Away. May not be perfert but will be close. (I'm not an artist.)
Court graphics. Same thing aleast close but may not be perfect.

I may release a beta at that point.
Then add the in game graphics (sub's and stat's overlay's, menu's) once all the teams are done. That would allow for some real game tests and tweaks of the players and courts, and teams while I work on those graphics.
Then add the in game graphics and release a final version in time for March Madness maybe sooner if I can get help with jerseys.

Hey sent you some jerseys at my current rate I could probley produce a solid 4 teams a day minus the courts for now. If your willing to work those courts we might be able to at least 40 teams. by march
