created rookies

Postby same3985 on Sat Dec 14, 2002 10:01 am

does anyone know if it is possible to create a player and put him into the yearly off season draft in franchise mode?

Yes, it is possible. It involves editing the DBF to change his attributes so that he will be recognised as a generated rookie, and placing him in the Rookie pool. I know that's pretty vague, but I'm planning to write a quick tutorial that will be available on the NLSC, though perhaps someone else will be able to explain in fully while I'm still getting my act together.

i did it in 2003 (after my first year), in my franchise (2003 draft) the Jazz got the first pick--i just remembered the 1rst pick's name then i used the dbf commander to change his name to Lebron James and changed his height and all that stuff, then used the Lebron James face patch(and did everything it said in the read me file)--it'll be even better when we get the Graphics editor so i can add all the upcoming rookies for year's to come--i plan on adding carmelo anthony and sebastian telfair in later years

really easy once you get the hang of it and adds a lot of realism to the franchise mode 8)

It works with NBA Live 2001 as well, and should also work with NBA Live 2000.

The new version of EAGE has been released, you can download it here.

Yes, but I am informed that the free Gamespy ID will still allow you free access to the Public Server.

Time to update the Downloads FAQ. :?

*bump* *bump*

Hope to see that tutorial soon.

:)

Let me see if I understand how this works.....

It's possible to change the name, height etc... of the rookies that appear in the annual draft in franchise mode?

Because I am planning on playing a custom league using franchise mode and I want to simulate the annual draft of our local league -- and the draft does not have a dozen 7-footers every year.

it's easy, this is what i do since i only add the top 5 draft prospects each year--i'll write down the top 5 draft picks names, so i'll know. Then save it and remember what slot you saved the fanchise on. Use the DBF viewer and go to the saves folder and find the slot that you saved it under. Then open the players.dbf file and scroll to the bottom(that's where all the created players end up). Then I'll find the name of the first pick and change his name to Lebron James, and you have to know the heights and all that stuff and change it accordingly. Then treat it like a a regular created player patch, by changing his "iscreated" to "F" and his file name to "LEJAMES" and voila he's in the game as the number 1 draft pick. It takes some time but if you have the cyberface and all that done already, it's not hard at all. It's actually quite fun and adds a lot of realism.

i hope that helps 8)

I understand what you're saying.

But is it possible to edit/create the rookies before they are drafted.

That way it will be up to the CPU to draft the players which I created.

try this, after the first season and the awards are done --save the franchise--and load a different roster and create the players you want--then use excel or the nba toolkit to cut and paste those players from that roster to your franchise.Remember to put those players at the bottom of the list. Go to your franchise and see if the cpu reads your players over the cpu generated players.I think this worked in live 2001 but the only problem was that the projected number 1 draft pick(computer generated) was drafted late. Play around with that, I'm pretty sure that's how people did it in live 2001.

hope that helped.

if you're using a created player or players that you are copying to your franchise file, then they should have a computer generated filename like the generated rookies have, so you really don't need to change that to lejame or whatever for the created players. someone correct me if i'm wrong but if you do use that filename and put the created players into the rookie pool, which i think is team 30, the computer won't recognize your player in the draft. someone may know how to make it work that way, but i've always had to use the computer given playername as the players id.

by the way the computer generated player id or name should be like AZPQ or something like that.

I think cocobe did his draft wrote down who was pick #1 then went into a DBF editor and made the changes to make him LeBron James. He changed the "Iscreated" field to F for false which makes the game think he's an actual guy then his filename which is also in the .dbf file to LEJAMES which makes him eligible for patching by creating the Xplayer folder in your Render folder then creating a folder called LEJAMES from there you can add cyberfaces shoes or whatever.

I'm gonna make a tutorial really quick.
