I play Against team with a record above .500...Sim against the bums.

I only play occasionally, mostly I sim, i play about 4-5 12 min games a season

If you've read my franchise thread, I've simmed the first year, and have played every game so far in the second year. Currently stand at 29-11 with my Washington Wizards.

I put it on 28 games and so far have played all of 'em, I just finished my 4th year with the Bulls, but obviouslya it takes me awhile to finish a year so I'll most likely not finish it before Live 2004 comes out

Like Drew, I play as much as I can... I use tweaked rosters too.

Somtimes i sim all the games and try to build a team up through the draft and trades. I only have live for ps2 so theres only 10 seasons. However, when i decide to play a franchise, i never sim any games

i play 28 games on franchise.. 9 min quarters.. with the Magic
i won my first season after finishing 15 -13 (lost only 4 games through out the playoffs)
hooked it up on all star 2nd season and im currently 13-14 (6 in the east)
my roster has
C - Kenny Thomas
PF - Drew Gooden
SF - Rashard Lewis (New this season involved in trade with Grant Hill)
SG - TMAC
PG - Jamael Tinsley
Bench
Gorden Giricek
Vaught (Rookie)
Carlos Rogers
Jeryl Sasser
Deveon George
Hobbes (Rookie)
and another Rookie.
I traded Hill and Troy Murphy to the Sonics for Lewis at the 3 games into my second season.
i won my first season after finishing 15 -13 (lost only 4 games through out the playoffs)
hooked it up on all star 2nd season and im currently 13-14 (6 in the east)
my roster has

I mostly (when I played Live 2003) let the cpu play vs cpu

I also use the tweaked rosters. It definately improves gameplay, but when i make a trade the player's rating i get drops. Say I'll trade for Antione Walker, who is an 84. As soon as he gets to my team, he will drop to a 77.
Then, if I decide to switch his position or something, it will continue to drop.
I guess it makes the gameplay more realistic, but it becomes a problem if I just want to sim a season.
