Problem - Game Freezes every time i play

Fri Jan 03, 2003 8:41 pm

Hi Folks,

i have searched the forums, but havent found anything about my problem. I am sorry, if i have missed something.

Every time i play NL 2003, it freezes. Sometimes it freezes five minutes after starting the game, sometimes i can play 3 quarters in a 12 minute game and then it freezes. The sound is scrambled, and my whole pc freezes, i have to reset it.

I have already upgraded my graphic drivers, directX to 9.0 and my soundblaster drivers. Nothing changed. I have also installed the patch for the game (at least i think so). I dont know if it will make any difference, but i doubt it.

I have a AMD XP 1600+, 512 MB RAM, GeForce 3 Ti 200, Soundblaster Live 5.1, Windows XP running (without Service Pack 1). Maybe i have to install the Service Pack for XP?

Any ideas how to get rid of this problem? Cause it is kind of frustrating, playing a 6 minute/quarter game and almost win, just to get the comp freezed :(.

Thanks

I think you have to install service pack 1.
By the way, try to update your XP to the newest verson, it's good for your computer.

Ok .. it seems, that installing Service Pack 1 has helped. I have managed to play a whole 8 minute / quarter game without freezing the computer. Lets cross fingers, that i got rid of that freezing forever.

GRRRR .. cheered to early ... computer still freezes.

It could be some of the stuff you have installed on your hard drive. Try closing everything you can on your taskbar and see what happens. Sometimes it could be a virus-scan program that you have or something else.

maybe you have enabled the custom art graphics thats why your computer freezes..

hey big easy , im having the same problem with the game freezing. I have lost so many games with it freezing. I tried everything and it still freezes.
Does anyone has any suggestions on what we can do?

turn off menu and in-game music.

A colleague of mine suggested that it is maybe an overheat problem of the pc itself. I'll try some things with my comp tonight, i'll see if it works.

I have the same problem but I found it only happens when there is a cut scene with a referee. as soon as the ref is shown total freeze & have to kill power as even ALT CTR DEL & ALT TAB don't work.

Ha ... finally ... after nearly half a year, i found out, what the problem is :D. I just removed 256 MB of RAM and now it works perfectly. I dont know why this is ... but it doesnt matter as long as i am able to play without freezing the comp. Now i even can start a season or franchise and play it through.

So what was the problem exactly?

Cause I have a AMD 2200+ 512DDR400 Mem + ATI Radeon 8500 128 MB

Is it cause the 512 MB ram?
Cause I want to fox this problem and cant remove mem cause its 1 chip.

I'm running XP SP1 as well. Latest drivers and Directx

Any suggestions Please?

Its a bit impossible to troubleshoot each and every patch installed?
& it cant be overheating problems cause its only in this game...

Thanks for any help

I have the same problem... it freezes in the middle of the game every single time and i've tried everything. My computer basically has everything that Divan Santana has. Any help/suggestions? It's really bugging me that i can't get past the third quarter without restarting it.

Well i managed to play a full game. I try closing almost everything in the background and disabling most services. But I doubt thats causing it. Will let you know if figure out what it is.

Try that...?

Fri Jun 20, 2003 8:58 pm

Actually i still dont know what exactly it was. I just removed one RAM Chip and i am now playing with 256 MB RAM. If the chip was corrupt or the socket i dunno.

Do you have the possibility to change the RAM, maybe try the chip of a friend?

Fri Jun 20, 2003 10:52 pm

No... I can't change the chip... It was working fine for a long time... But now it freezes all the time.... Every other program works fine, it's just this one. I'll try closing all my programs in the background and see if that works... :s.
