homecourt advantage

is there a way to edit which team has homecourt advantage in the playoffs? for example sacramento is seeded #2 in this year's playoffs and dallas is #3, but dallas had homecourt advantage. but in the game the team with the higher seed will always have the advantage. so is there some way to adjust/edit this?

As far as I'm aware, it's not possible. Similar situation with the NBA Finals - the Western Conference champs will always have homecourt advantage, even if the Eastern Conference champs should have it, but there's no way to remedy the problem.

I see.. actually I'm in the Finals right now using the sacramento kings and I'm up against the nets(using this year's playoff tree), and the nets have homecourt advantage So i don't think the West always has homecourt advantage.. but anyway I just wanted to know if it was possible. Perhaps it's another "occasional" bug similar to the incorrect team records bug. Perhaps I'm imagining things. I'll have to double-check myself.

yeah.. or maybe its just that the game is just inconsistent or something. but in anyway it still sucks that it cant be adjusted to make it more accurate

Yeah, it can't be edited, though in terms of how well teams play at home, the homecourt advantage in teams.dbf (HOMEADV) can be modified - it has an effect on both simulated performance and gameplay, to a certain extent.

actually i posted this same question in another forum, and someone told me that editing the homeadv field would change which team had the homecourt advantage well after spending some time trying to edit it, someone finally posted and told me this doesn't change the homecourt advantage, but like you said only affects the hometeam's chances of winning at home.

it all depends on how you define homecourt advantage.
if you think that's the chance of getting a shot to fall, (which i suppose you was asking for), i did a wrong intepretation... sorryf ro that

but what i meant is that the homecourt advantage is when you sim your game, how will be the result of the team...

if there is one thing i never got with nba rules its all this stuff about gaining and losing home court advantage while the playoffs are busy, i do understand the record in the regular season and stuff thats simple but the spurs lost game 1 against NJ and lost homecourt and won 2 and won it back, what kinda crap i think ,cant they just give the edge to the team with the best regular season record?

They don't switch over the advantage. It's just because if the series is a 2-3-2 like in the finals and you win one of the games and loose one of the games at the other teams home then the series is tied 1-1 and you have 3 games at home and they have 2 games at home, so you technically have homecourt advantage. You see?
