Where's my franchise???

Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Where's my franchise???

Postby w00kle on Tue Apr 08, 2003 5:25 pm

hey guys... i'm somewhat of a veteran live man :D

however, when i recently moved out of home i couldn't play on my old man's computer anymore.... then i bought live 2002 for PS1 = very dodgy, after stumbling on this site and reading about the "improved" GM mode i decided to lash out for 2003 of pS1... but where is my gm mode.. grrr.. i'm very dissappointed at EA...

this game is basically the same as 2002.. same commentary, same menus, no gm mode....

and they reckon i'm supposeded to have the "revolutionary" new player control but it ain't there!!!

There's no Franchise Mode in any of the PS1 NBA Lives, as far as I'm aware. For all other platforms, there is most definitely a Franchise (with some new additions).

Commentary is good, though as with every sports video game, it gets repetitive after a while. I think it's an improvement on Live 2002, Don and Bob seem to interact more (not just a Don calling out slam dunk and Bob saying it was nice for example). There's still the occasional incorrect assessment (Shaq at the line, "This guy is just automatic from the line!", Troy Hudson at the line, "Hudson can hurt you from the line just as much as he can with a tomahawk jam", etc), but it's still probably the best of the series.

Yeah, I believe the Features list on the official website listed the same features across all platforms, even though the PS1 version is not the same as the PS2, Xbox, GC or PC versions.

commentary is definitly better then like 2k2. Fun game, but should be a bit more realistic

I personnaly like

Don: Even some of the game's legends have had their share of problems. Bob: You thinking of a guy named Chamberlain?
Don: No I was thinking of a guy named Elliot.
Bob: Aw c'mon I wasn't that bad.

yea.. its the only reason i bought the game, because i thought there would be some improvements.. i mean there is no way i'd pay $50 for a roster patch.

i just can't understand why they would list the same features across all platforms when ps1 doesn't have the same features... well we'll see what they have to say about it

My guess is it was simply an oversight. I know I've posted information before that has been taken from early previews of NBA Live/in the wrong place etc, which I have forgotten to clarify and thus people have been confused.

For example, when I used to run the NBA Live Domain, I neglected to remove the "Trading for Draft Picks" from the features list of NBA Live 2001 (early previews mentioned this feature). Hence, some visitors were led to believe that it was somewhere in the game.

yea but hte main problem is, they have different links for different consoles and there features... i mean is it being lazy or false advertising???

i only bought it because there "should" of been these new features which are not there... is that false advertising?

Yes and no. Yes, because it can potentially mislead customers, as it did for you. No, because it's simply an oversight (whether that's laziness or simply a mistake by the website staff). Also, the features list on the game box/in the manual probably do not match the website.

I'd say it's more a case of an uncorrected error that came about due to oversight/lack of information provided/possibly laziness rather than false advertising.

Yeah, it's the official Live 2003 site that lists the features, not the EA Australia website.
