ROSTERPOS

Wed Feb 26, 2003 12:34 pm

I've created some custom teams in my roster and they perfectly work well. The only drawback is that whenever I reorder a team, usually a custom team, there are only 5 players in the team roster. But when I play it, they are actually a complete team. My issue here is that why cant i reorder my custom teams roster? Does it have anything to do with the the ROSTERPOS? Another thing, can someone help me with what exactly does the number in ROSTERPOS represent example 0 - center, 1- PF ..etc

Hope someone can help me with this. Thanks in advance :D

From my players.dbf guide for NBA Live 2001 (NBA Live 2003 uses the same values):

ROSTERPOS: Roster position
0: Starting Centre
1: Starting Power Forward
2: Starting Small Forward
3: Starting Shooting Guard
4: Starting Point Guard
5-11: Active Bench
12-14: Inactive Roster

Would any errors occur if i skipped some numbers or there will be repetition of numbers. Example is that I have two players who are assigned as 6 on the ROSTERPOS and another example would be if I have assigned 0-8 in the ROSTERPOS and the next player that is assinged is 11. Would errors occur in these scenarios? Another thing, are my reorder problems connected with this ROSTERPOS?

Thanks for the help Andrew. Appreciate it :D

You can't skip any numbers between 0 and 7, because you must have the first 8 roster positions assigned to 8 active players. I don't think you can skip any numbers from 8-11, unless you skip all of them up until 12-14.

In other words, you could skip numbers like this:

0 - Player
1 - Player
2 - Player
3 - Player
4 - Player
5 - Player
6 - Player
7 - Player
8 - Player
9 - Player
10 - Player
11 - Skip
12 - Player
13 - Player
14 - Player

In other words, 11 players active, 3 on the injured roster. That's basically how it works.

Thanks again :D Another thing? Would the starting five have to be players in their exact positions or i could just assign any 5 and then reorder them during the game? One more thing? what would happen if i exceed the 15 allotted slots in one roster? What is the maximum number of players can I assign in one team?

My apologies for all the tons of questions, I just need help. Really appreciate all the help Andrew :D

You can assign any player any roster position, just as you can in the game. As long as you assign the positions correctly in the DBF, you can reorder them to your liking in the game.

Each team can have no more than 15 players (slots 0-14). The exceptions are the Free Agent and Legends pool, but they assign all players to slot 0. For a normal team, custom or otherwise, you can only have 15 players.

Thanks Andrew :D With your help, I can now fix my custom teams. I hope that this fixes all the errors occuring in my custom teams. Thanks again. Keep up the excellent work! :D

You're welcome. :) If there's anything else, I'll try to lend a hand. I'll never claim to know everything about everything, but I have knowledge on some topics. :)
