how in the f*** to edit blet.fsh

Postby f.t.w. on Tue Dec 17, 2002 4:48 am

when I try to edit the blet.fsh (the graphic file for the player name on the jersey) it tells me some junk about a 'global pallette' and 'all information will be lost' or whatever. and then when I go ahead with it, the game crashes when I try to play with that uniform. I'm trying to create the away version of the retro Nuggets uniforms, and everything is just as I want it except that I have to use the home retro unis to create it (to get number placement right) but then I get blue letters on blue uniform. Anyway, help please.

I posted the uniforms, but you can't see the name on the back(duh.)

i'm gonna experiment with this a little bit.

hey, since you're a nuggets fan, maybe you'd know this...are those '88 home jerseys really supposed to have blue numbers on the back???

i saw some clips from '84 and they were yellow on the back, but they were different back then i think. i looked at a mitchell and ness replica and it was blue on the back, but is that right? i'll have to dig out my basketball cards later.

Ok...I thought I almost had it, I was able to change the file to yellow using fshtool...but when I put it back in the game, it kind of shows up, but mostly it's that ugly shimmery messed up name problem over again.

The problem is, I don't think either fsh tool or eage handles those files yet. When you look at blet in ea graphics editor, half the time you just see a blank screen...but when you extract it using fshtool, you also get a grayscale component of it that is just the alphabet in black and white. i extracted it and changed the blue rectangle to yellow and re imported it, now in eage i see it just like before except it's yellow...but in the game it still doesn't work.

on the plus side, I was able to use eage to import my '88 cavs road jersey over the top of the '94 cavs road jersey, and it works fine. when i did this before, using fshtool, the name on the back disappeared. (the preview on jersey select was 'shimmery' but in the game it was just gone.)

oh yeah, and I'm using teamgear.dbf to add in 'cl02', so this is just added as a 2nd classic jersey for denver now...

thats cool, I hadn't thought to use the fshtool on it. I thought about maybe saving blet as a bmp, changing it to yellow and then saving it as a fsh file (maybe at 4Bpp, if that didn't work then 8 Bpp, etc.) before importing it back into the viv.
I'm not a big time nuggets fan, so you're gonna have to dig out the trading cards. I had a hard time finding a color scheme to go off of to make those unis. I had to search Alex English to find what I did find.
How can I get a copy of those cavs uniforms? I like the ones that come in the game, are yours the ones with CAVS on the front and the 'V' is a hoop?
Also, can I edit Teamgear.dbf with excel? Thats a really good call, I was trying to think of how to do something like that. Thanks.

I'm also trying to make jerseys and i've made the Red Sixers and right now, i'm making the '90's Washington Bullets. I also got that name problem... :?
And second: Does anyone know how to move the jersey numbers (fx. to the right upper corner)?

I saw your other post psych, sweet jerseys. So far I can't do ANYTHING to blet. The only way I know of to move the jersey number is to use an existing Team file (eg HoAway.fsh) that has the number where you want it. I think Houston has the number on the top left, the classic Denver has the number on the top right, and the classic Toronto has towards the top right (more like the upper-middle right,) and of course whatever team file you use ties you to the letter color of the name on the back (so far, anyway.)
I suspect that the placement of the numbers and the player name is dictated by the 'frnt' and 'back' files in the *.fsh team file. I notice that with different numbering and lettering sizes and styles that 'frnt' and 'back' are different sizes. Thats just a theory though.

I'll post those cavs ones later on, I want to make a little change on them first. They're the blue ones with the orange cavs with the net in the v...I think they only wore them one year, I just made that one first cause it was such a minor change.

I need to fix the numbers too, cause I think it's a mistake that the cavs road jersey in the game has white #'s on the back

I'm sorry, I don't speak broken English. Can a fellow Yankee tell me if MJ had anything to add to the question of changing the color of the player name on the back of the jerseys?

Just to show you that I have already made a jersey and the names at the back are not a problem. Sorry for that!

yeah MJ, did you use a blet.fsh file that was in the game or did you edit it? If you did edit the blet.fsh file, please explain.

i can be such an acid-tongued bastard sometimes, i'm blushing. I love my bros and sis's all around the world and appreciate the effort people take to speak a second language. please understand that i have a three-year-old, and sometimes i vent on whoever has the misfortune of being in front of me at the time.

that being said, Mr Gildner, i didn't get your file. my email is in my little post-box, please send what you have. thanks and happy patching.
