Players on the last year of their contracts...

Thu Feb 06, 2003 7:58 pm

Do they have a tendency to play much better during that last contract year? This is the usually the case in the NBA as they strut their stuff in the hope of being re-signed ofr a bigger contract or become a sought after free agent. But do you think this is also the case in Franchise mode?

You see, I have a Celtics franchise, on my second season actually. Antoine Walker and Eric Williams are on the last year of their contracts and they're playing damn well. I'm not simulating my games, I try to play each and single one of them. I don't know if I'm going to them more but they're much better during this season that the year previous. In fact, Walker was selected to the All-Star game and Pierce was not. Eric Williams has been a better defender, rebounder and occasional scorer for me.

Have you guys experienced this or I'm just imagining things?

I think you might be just imagining things. They could simply just have developed nicely and/or you're familiar with your roster, so you can fully utilise your players to their full potential.

Andrew is right. You are just getting very familiar with you players, you know their strengths and weaknesses, so you know how to use them. It's the same with me, I have alot of new players going into my second season, and I didn't know their game completely, but lately I've grown to understand how to use them, and that's a big reason why I'm on a 6 game winning streak. And before I got Jason Kidd, I was barely staying above .500
