Has anyone noticed that when a DBF slows all the players down that ball handling suffers terribly? Very few of the good shooting guards, small forwards, and Dirk Nowitskis of the world can do any freestyle moves w/o losing the ball! It seems that ability to handle is tied into the speed and quickness of the player, i don't know if increasing the ball handling rating will sufficiently fix the issue, but otherwise i think we're screwed. Either we can slow the game down and not be able to execute the freestyle moves, or we can leave the speed at unrealistic levels!

I think this issue doesn't have an easy fix. Everybody complains about the game is way too fast, so the only thing we can do is either decrease speed & quickness for a slower and more realistic gameplay (which results in slower spin and freestyle moves), or... wait for a EA patch to fix it.

As I understand it, speed represents how fast a player runs, quickness is how fast he executes movements (spins, block attempts, etc.), and ball handling is their ability to excute moves without losing the ball. Off/Def Awareness also seem to play a factor in how fast players execute moves. It's just a matter of finding the right balance.

Another thing that not everyone is aware of yet... Simulation Mode handles like Arcade Mode and Arcade Mode handles like Simulation Mode... seems like they (EA) got something backwards when coding the game. I played the first game of the season as Portland vs. Lakers and got STOMPED when set to Simulation mode. It feels like NBA Jam (old arcade game). Fast breaks all day, Kobe with unbelievable dunks over half my team. I tried again in "Arcade" Mode and all the players seemed to move at a MUCH more manageable speed. Dunks were much more in line with what actually happens in the NBA. Kobe can sky, but he's not going to take of from 8 feet out and dunk over Wallace AND Sabonis. Give it a try for more realistic results.
