Injuries in 2003 - Injury Generator

Mon Jul 07, 2003 12:46 am

Hi,

I'm searching for a tool called "injury generator". I used it while playing NBA Live 199x, and I'd like to use it also for 2003, because injuries don't appear at all.

Does anyone still have this tool, who could send it to me (register@frl-menke.de)? Or does anyone have a solution for this injury-problem???

Thx
Carsten

If by solution you mean a patch to make injuries more common, no. You'll just have to use the injury generator (if someone can dig it up and send it to you). Some people have also come up with a method of "injuring" players by rolling dice - if those people are around, they can explain it better than I can. :)

I use my own injuries, throwing a dice (12 sides) for each player before a game. Throwing a 12 means that he is injured. The injuries are as below:

a) 1-11: no injury;
b) 12: injured;

In case of an injury (again a dice is thrown):
b1) 1-6: player injured for one game;
b2) 7-12: player injured for more games;

In case of b2 (again a dice is thrown):
b2a) 1-6: slight injury;
b2b) 7-12: severe injury;

Slight injury (again a dice is thrown):
Player injured for ... games: 1-4=2; 5-8=3; 9-12=4;

Severe injury (again a dice is thrown):
Player injured for ... games: 1=5; 2=6; 3=7; .... --> 4 is added to the result of the dice;
up to 11=15; 12=16;

Injured players must not be traded or released. When a player comes back to the active roster after an injury, he automatically is fit for the next game, without having to throw the dice.

As players were injured very often, I slightly changed the rules after game 13: every new injury can be called off. A dice is thrown, 1, 2, 3 and 4 mean that the player is not injured and can remain on the active roster.

Uhhhh Leander, that means spending a lot of time before playing one single game. A nice idea, but too long for me. Thx!

I believe the injury generator only generated suggested injuries for your players, and it was up to you to move them to the injured roster until a certain date or number of games. It didn't actually apply the injury data to players.dbf.

Therefore, you could just use your own imagination and pick a player at random. Have him miss an appropriate number of days due to an injury of your choice.

No, it doesn't take much time. About 1.5 minutes or so for all players.

You could but its hard cause it'd just be pretty hard to pick a random player or two on your team to be injured and then pick how long and all that too, just because you'd be biased, and I dunno, it's kinda hard to explain but I really don't think that I personally would have much success randomly picking players for injury.

True, but it's basically the same thing the Injury Generator does, so in the absence of the Injury Generator it's a means of deciding on ways to "injure" your players.

One method that I use is to follow the actual NBA. If a player is injured IRL, he is injured in my game. I try to follow the real NBA as much as possible. Many websites post an injury report, so it is very easy to follow. Just my two cents.

Yes, that's another effective method.

Just in case anyone's still interested:

I wrote:Had some time to spare, so I put together a HTML version of the Injury Generator. I figured some people might find a use for it if they're looking to make their Franchises more interesting, so I'm releasing it.

It's pretty basic, but I thought I'd share it anyway. :wink:

lol, I hope some ppl at EA look at this,, I mean if we're resorting to throwing dice because they havn't completed the game properly something must be wrong.

NBA Live 2004 is supposed to have improved in this area, according to some of the previews.

Yup
