Relationship between Primacy and Offensive Awareness?

Sat Jun 14, 2003 5:29 pm

Is it possible that there is a relationship between the Primacy-rating and the Offensive Awareness? Or may it be that the Offensive Awareness is much more important for a players Primacy than the Primacy itsself?

Let me explain it:
Last night I felt boring and was tweaking the players of the San Antonio Spurs and the Atlanta Hawks. I gave lower ratings in speed, base quickness, etc. and espacially tweaked the primacy to get somehow a real game, where only the big guys take many shots.
Then I made a test-match in exhibition mode. I took the Spurs. I played 9 min quarters on Superstar.
The first quarter was quite realisitic in my opinion, I was in front nearly the hole quarter, but in the last minute the Hawks came into a 24-22 lead and that was the endresult of the 1st quarter.
But then it began. In the last minutes of the 1st quarter the Hawks had brought up Dion Glover for Ira Newble. In the 6 minutes he played in the 2nd quarter he scored 17 pts (7-8 FGs, 3-3 FTs). I was not able to stop him, whatever I tried. He was the go-to-guy, and that although Glenn Robinson and Abdur-Rahim were on the court nearly the whole time. Jason Terry was on the bench because of foul-trouble.

In the half I stopped the game, when the Hawks were in front 62-45.
I looked at the ratings of Glover and I noticed, that he hadn't too high field-goal and 3pt-rating (EA-rating: 72 and 74). The primacy rating was "only" 75, the rating of Shareef and the Big Dog were in the high 80's.
But when I tweaked the players, I wanted too guarantee not too high Offensive Awareness of all players, to get more realistic stats and gameplay.
And I noticed that I had forgotten to tweak the Offensive Awareness of Dion Glover! Every player hat a maximum in OA EA-rating 85, but Glover had 87!

So my question, has anybody met similar "problems" or noticed something like that? Or is it not possible, that somehow the Offensive Awareness is responsible for a players Primacy?

Thx for your answers!

Throughout the NBA Live series, players with a high Offensive Awareness rating tend to be prolific scorers. This often leads to domination by point guards. I've noticed quite a few players in Live with higher than expected Offensive Awareness ratings. It's something I intend to edit in the current roster update this offseason.
