Discussion about NBA Live 2003.

Ok I went into 2003 and finaly tried adding rookies like i did in other lives, And No it is not possible after the season goes into the off season it delet's any non original or retired players out of the game file. "probley to save space" Witch is really dumb with all the cool stuff they added to live to take away this modabilty really upsets me.
sorry jwin but even if u could add rookies to the game they need to be added to team 39 not 30 only if you went in and rename the teams.dbf 30 to Rookies witch is possible they will be added to 30 then. But just to add them to 30 "allstar" will not work trust me. I know this game in and out.
Anyway Im still working on it. there has to be away of renaming teams in the teams.dbf To get them to not be deleted. The reason live has done this is to save space by getting rid of the legends and non es. players so therefore if we get the the game to read the rookies as a es. player then maybe but for right now it is beyond my patience lol But If ya'll have any ideas let me know.
And hey if any of ya have created a fictional charlotte team I loved to test it out.
........... D-fence wins championships

I've noticed this too, if there's a way to add draft prospects it's not as easy as before, as the game does indeed clear any player that is not on an NBA team or the free agents. It doesn't matter whether you add the player to an existing Franchise or to a saved roster then start a season, the results are the same.

I didn't have any problems with the playoffs when I was testing a team that I added.

Really? Cool... What conference are you in?

I placed the team in the Western conference, simmed season, playoffs and offseason, no crashes, no problems. Also tested in-game, no problems either.

jerry and andrew, i'll go through the process i used again and try to write it down step by step, maybe i can help you guys find out what's not working. it does work though, i haven't created a whole draft class and added them but in the franchise i use i did put lebron, carmelo anthony and brandin knight in and they were all drafted. i know for sure because lebron and some cpu generated player were both projected as the first overall pick. and in the draft i did as a test i created a guy named emeka okafur who was drafted sixth overall, so it does work, maybe i'm doing something different that's working. if either of you wants to, pm or email me with the steps you're using and i'll compare them with what i did. and jerry if you open the players.dbf from a franchise save file there shouldn't be a team number listed after 29 and there are no all star teams listed because the all star team is generated by the cpu. if you mean trying to add them to the original db files before you even start a franchise then i can't help with that because i haven't tried it.

It's a little different though - Jerry and I are trying to add rookies to a roster patch which will be distributed. To do this, the rookies must be added to players.dbf before the season is started. This method, which worked with NBA Live 2000/2001, does not work with NBA Live 2003, but as far as we know it's the only way to add rookies to a file that can then be distributed and used to start a Franchise.
