All-Star uniforms

Fri Jan 31, 2003 12:02 pm

the big problem is that no matter if you call them x2serd, x1cl02, x2cl99, whatever...you select your jersey and the computer still gives the All-Stars their individual team uniforms.

I have NO idea how to make these uniforms appear in an NBA Live 2003 All-Star game, other than to make these uniforms the home or away of every team from which an All-Star comes. No matter what I do in the db, the All-Star uniforms are those of the individual player's team.

These uniforms are an attempt to recreate the 1988 NBA All-Star Game uniforms. The 2003 All-Star teams will pay tribute to that momentous All-Star Weekend by wearing retro All-Star uniforms. I will not update the individual team logos on the back of the jerseys, but feel free to do so with the materials provided. I couldn't ever get a clear picture of the shorts, so the shorts design is an educated guess.

they look hot. I like your simple textures, some people get carried away with textures and make the mesh look like chain mail. It's too bad you didn't get the plain blue and plain white numbers.
I suppose we could export the all star court to any regular team, transfer the the player database to a saved roster and then trade all the all stars to the team with the court and another team, and the give those two teams the all star jerseys.
geez, I hope someone figures a way around the all star individual team uniforms issue.

Hey, I noticed that too, when I made the Eastern All-Star throwback jerseys and never could get them to wear the jerseys. But, I did notice that you can get the players to wear the Mitchell and Ness throwback jerseys for the All Star Teams. No matter, how you change the attributes in the DBF editor, it won't work. The only way that I can think of with making them, is to completely make a new team with the DBF editor by copying and editing one of the NBA teams

nice shirts, but isn't there too much stars on the shorts?!?

:!: :?: :!:

Sat Feb 01, 2003 4:54 am

you tell me. look at this 87 all-star game pic:

http://www.nba.com/media/allstar2002/bi ... DB_new.jpg

I couldn't get a good view of the side. I tried every search I could think of and that was the only picture I could find, and the 03 uniforms are based on the 88 not the 87 uniforms. Regardless, i tried a bunch of different stuff with the stars and I was happiest with the stars on the uniforms that I released. maybe when we can get a better idea of what the 03 shorts will look like, I'll try to update it. I usually don't worry as much about every detail being authentic as long as it looks good to me, unlike some of you guys (see Freud, anal retentiveness).

i like the jersey's good work F.T.W., i jus wish i could get them in my allstar game but hey excellent job.

much props

hey FTW, i think what you could do is (probly the only), since the logo of the team is on the jersey, all u can do is to make the allstar jersey something like cl99 so no other jersey will use it, and then put an individual cl99.fsh jersey file in the players folder, i think that is the only, it may be hard to do and the patch will have a big file size though

Sat Feb 01, 2003 10:11 am

Great work on the jerseys man  keep it up

Sat Feb 01, 2003 10:17 am

thats a good idea, but like you said, that would be a huge file. Also the cpu default selects the home or away jersey for each player, so cl99 wouldn't work i don't think.
i mostly play in franchise mode, so im not motivated to make individual uniforms for all the teams represented in this years all-star game(which is 18 teams). any way you do it will be a pain unless someone can get around that programing issue.
thanks for the comments everyone. AllisWells: the new jersey numbers were the only ones i could find close to the right colors that would stay in the right place on the jerseys, and as I said before, the shorts design is an educated guess.

I think you just have to change the teamabr2 setting (in the teams.dbf)from x1 (east all-stars) and x2 (west all-stars) to something else (any two letters that aren't already used). I did the reverse of that with Live 2001; I made the legends teams wear the uniforms from their actual teams by changing their teamabr2 settings to x1 & x2 (I added a lot of old school jerseys, too). The problem with this, though, is that the teams played on the all-star court when they were at home, and were called "the western all-stars" or "eastern all-stars" by the announcers.
I haven't tried changing it yet, but it's worth a try. I was actually thinking of doing old school jerseys again for Live 2003 (I never released the ones I made for 2001) and changing the rosters like I did before.

Sat Feb 01, 2003 12:59 pm

thats a great idea bchogan. I'm definitely going to try that. I think I had some of your old school jerseys for 2000. For me, thats an area of patch-making that hasn't been addressed nearly enough for this game.
without sounding too much like t-mac talking about MJ, I also wanna say how great your court patches have been for 03.

Sat Feb 01, 2003 8:43 pm

I've tried that already and it doesn't work. They still use their own jersey.

Sun Feb 02, 2003 9:29 am

well, this problem is outside my area of expertise (if there is such a thing). As I stated earlier, you have my blessing to manipulate and change any of my patches any way you please. I made these uniforms for what I do at home with my game, I post them here in the hope that someone else will enjoy them as well. If anyone can come up with a way to work these uniforms into an NBA Live 2003 All-Star game, and feel so inclined, go ahead and repost this patch with the needed adjustments.
I think I'll take a bit of a patch-posting break for a bit, but I'll obviously check in from time to time to see the great new patches we are putting out everyday here at NLSC (actually that really should be abbreviated NBALSC).

Thu Feb 06, 2003 5:48 am

Hummmm...now I know how to SOLVE this problem :o

Just open a teams.dbf, and edit both All Star East & West lines by changing the teamcode column number and replacing them by 0...
It makes the All Star teams wear the x1 & x2 jerseys

Thu Feb 06, 2003 1:05 pm

i know now the real answer. how to wear that jersey at all star. open players.dbf and then under ORIGTEAM change the numbers to 30. i try this without any bugs and it woks. thanks to Andrew for giving this information.

But that would defeat the purpose of abbreviation.

You're welcome. :) Just a matter of making that change part of the installation process of the jersey patch.

Fri Feb 07, 2003 12:51 am

That's one way to do it. But you can also change the all-star teams ID, and also change that for the players who plays on the all-star teams.
Dunno if this makes any sense...

Fri Feb 07, 2003 6:08 pm

The problem with changing the team IDs is that it causes problem with the schedule in season mode.

Sat Feb 08, 2003 12:25 am

Ahh, ok, my bad. :)

Sat Feb 08, 2003 1:39 am

do i change the origteam value for each individual player you want in the allstar or all the players in that dbf?

Sat Feb 08, 2003 11:17 am

You change the ORIGTEAM value for all the players on the All-Star teams from their NBA teams to All-Stars East/West (depending which team they play for). Then you can install the 2003 All-Star jersey patch with success.

Mon Feb 10, 2003 2:48 pm

well, i want his jersey, but the link is broken :(
please fix it....

Mon Feb 10, 2003 3:40 pm
