10 minutes roster patch

Fri Dec 06, 2002 11:25 am

I dunno how many people play more than 8 min quaters, but I do. I wasn't getting good results with the 8 min patches, so I went ahead and made my own. I played two games. Here are the game stats:

Entire Game Houston Chicago

Points 89 79
Bench Scoring 21 20
Field Goals 34/74 35/78
Field Goal % .459 .449
3 Point FG 3/14 5/19
3 Point % .214 .263
Free Throws 18/24 4/14
Free Throw % .750 .286
Rebounds 44 33
Off. Rebounds 7 4
Def. Rebounds 37 29
Blocks 12 10
Steals 8 12
Assists 17 16
Turnovers 23 19
Fouls 20 17

Entire Game Atlanta Orlando

Points 93 85
Bench Scoring 26 15
Field Goals 39/81 33/75
Field Goal % .481 .440
3 Point FG 5/18 3/16
3 Point % .278 .188
Free Throws 10/12 16/26
Free Throw % .833 .615
Rebounds 40 36
Off. Rebounds 3 5
Def. Rebounds 37 31
Blocks 9 9
Steals 9 6
Assists 21 19
Turnovers 19 17
Fouls 29 10

I was Chicago and Orlando.

Yes, I suck at free-throws. You don't have to tell me, I already knew.

Most of the blocks on me were because I got caught in the air and not really wanting to shoot, so I gave the defender enough time to get off the ground.

10 minutes quarters
Arcade
All-Star (Gimme a break, I am still getting used to the game pad)

ALSO, I updated the overall ratings. It is now based on 20 categories. Most of the players are rated 68 to 70. The highest rated players are Kevin Garnett and Kobe Bryant with 79. McGrady and Duncan are 78, just so you don't freak out. Give it a try. I like it.

yo dert,

i played a game as the rockets on superstar, arcade - all rules on, off fouls set @ 50%, defensive @ 100%, 8mins qtrs with yer patch.

in general the game played really well. i have the following comments;

speed - about right
fg% - maybe a touch high, although AI got POG & he shot like 0.382 which is about right for him :P , (0-10 3fgs though :? )
3fg% - i couldn't hit anything..went like 1-13...maybe thats just me :?:
cpu stls - mmm...maybe a tad high but then again mobley prolly can't beat AI off the dribble in the nba either
shot attempts - about right
my blocks - mmm, maybe a tad high, but then again ming was waiting on AI in the lane a bit
cpu fouls - prolly still reaching in a bit too much in the post & i picked up about 10 charges in the blox...not sure wot u can do about that though :?

overall nice job bud. certainly a big improve on default rosters thats for sure. i think the lower overall ratings make gameplay a fair bit more enjoyable..but still fast...but i was actually able to stay in the game.

wot formulae(s) did u use to come up with ratings? is it based on real current nba stats? ne chance i can see the formulae?

here are the games team stats;

Entire Game Philadelphia Houston

Points 95 90
Bench Scoring 29 23
Field Goals 37/82 35/68
Field Goal % .451 .515
3 Point FG 3/17 1/11
3 Point % .176 .091
Free Throws 18/21 19/34
Free Throw % .857 .559
Rebounds 32 42
Off. Rebounds 5 9
Def. Rebounds 27 33
Blocks 2 10
Steals 13 4
Assists 19 21
Turnovers 11 20
Fouls 31 15

Sun Dec 08, 2002 11:44 pm

roster on the way :P

i ran a cpu vs cpu game with yer roster dert;

game settings - 12min qtrs, superstar, arcade - all rules on, off fouls 50% def fouls 100%.

here are the results:

Entire Game Philadelphia Houston

Points 112 92
Bench Scoring 37 30
Field Goals 39/87 31/84
Field Goal % .448 .369
3 Point FG 4/24 6/40
3 Point % .167 .150
Free Throws 30/37 24/30
Free Throw % .811 .800
Rebounds 46 42
Off. Rebounds 4 5
Def. Rebounds 42 37
Blocks 15 15
Steals 20 18
Assists 24 11
Turnovers 29 29
Fouls 19 31

my comments are;

pts - good
fg% - ok
fga - spot on
3fg% - bit too low - bump up 3pt ratings a bit
3fga - too many - not sure wot to do here?
fts - good
reb - good
oreb - bit low - not sure wot to do - prolly a game hard coding thing?
blks - too high - not sure wot u can do about this though - it seems to be hard coded in the game for guys to go stoopid on shotblocking
stls - bit too high - similar issue to blocks :?
to's - too high, cos of blks, stls etc

but overall not too bad for a sim cpu vs cpu game........big improvement on default rosters

The 3pt attemps, offensive rebounding, steal, and blocks are all AI problems. I have try tweakingin every way and still the number come up way too high.

To get a higher 3pt percentage, you should try to release the ball quickly. I know in nba live 2001, you had to hold the bottom donw for your player to aim, but in 2003, you have a greater chance to make a trey if you release it quickly. Also the CPU will crank 3pts with almost ANYONE, so I don't think that it a too god idea to enhance the overall 3pt rating. I might try to individually change it, but not anytime soon...

For offensive rebounds, YOU have to go get the ball. The CPU AI is too dumb to try to get offensive rebounds. They don't even jump most of the time. I was able to get 15 offensive rebounds with the Piston, and only 5 of those were with Big Ben.

reducing the PRIMACY i think helps reduce ridicoulas 3 point shot attemps
but with some players u need it high, like for a.walker, coz he jacks up anything.

and yeah, offensive rebounding, u really do have to do it urself
looks like a good pathch
